any lighting systems that can do "speed-cycle" like PW Multimax?

Hi All,

I have used the "speed-cycle" function on my PocketWizard Multimaxes a few times, it's really useful (in certain cases).

I like my Pocket Wizards, but I have other triggers (specific to certain lighting systems, e.g. Godox and Profoto) that allow me to change the power of my strobes from the camera.

I'd love to combine the two sets of functionality. Are there any lighting systems that can do both?

Thanks in advance for any insights.

Some Godox lights (AD200, AD200Pro, AD300Pro, AD400Pro, AD600Pro, AD1200Pro, P2400) have the MASK function which lets you do that Some lights support 2 lights some 4.

I imagine Profoto has a similar system.

It's often used to produce two images one lit fully and one with only the background lit to produce a black mask to allow the background to be easily removed in post (hence the name)

Oh, that's interesting. I have a couple godox lights already, I'll have to check that out (I remember reading about that when I first got them too, but totally forgot!)

The list I gave you was from memory, please check that MASK is supported before buying anything.

even easier, I'll just read the manual on my AD400 and AD600 :-)

But I appreciate the followup, thanks.

Speed-cycle: Most broncolor lights can do that. The feature is called freemask or sequence. On some units (with limited UI, like Siros) you need the free broncolor PC/Mac/mobile software to configure it over WIFI. On the others it's on the LCD.

You configure the sequence "depth", for example 3, and set the initial state (wait-2, wait-1, or active). With every trigger event, the unit executes the state and cycles to the next one.

Remote Power: With broncolor, you can keep using a "dumb" trigger or sync cable, and still control the light power remotely. For example from another trigger that you attach to your camera stand, or from the software, or of course from the lights/packs themselves.

It works this way because the trigger does not send a "set power to X" message, but rather "increase/decrease power by X". The WIFI software is bidirectional and knows the current state, even when it was set from somewhere else.

You can even integrate the lights into your own software or hardware solution, for example a Raspberry PI in a box with big custom buttons. Download the reference software (bronAPI) and hack away.
