Android Based DOF Calculator

Hi

Just made a DOF calculator for android based phones and published on android market place.

its FREE, you can search on your mobile using my name Aimen RG or DOF Calculator.

I have tried to support all major image sensor formats in use and with most common apertures and focal lengths, please let me know what needs to be fixed, improved or added. I'll do that in future versions.

this is not a commercial post, im not earning out of this post, or the application in question.

Is it available for direct (to my PC) download anywhere?

The android Marketplace just does not work on my phone. Don't know why, but it just sits there saying installing, and absolutely nothing happens.

• Why not just list the 35mm DSLRs by sensor size rather than trying to list all the DSLR models
• Medium Format - there are at least 3 MF sensor sizes that I am aware of
• Focal Lengths: In MF 45, 55, 75, 80, 110 and 120mm lenses are common (but missing from your list)
• Apertures: I think it would be worthwhile listing 1/2 stops in addition to full stops (you do list some, but not all).

Better yet, let the user enter distance, focal length and aperture after selecting sensor size.

You are probably right, but then again, anyone using a DoF calculator is also probably a bit more knowledgeable than your average amateur.

Added Advanced Mode, accessible through Menu
Lets user manually enter Focal Length, Aperture, and Distance.

I have the same problem with my Velocity Cruz Reader R101, I can´t connect with its internet connection and can´t install from android market =(

Sorry for the delayed response ( 2 months ), here the link to v 1.5.1

now the app has 4 modes

simple mode = select every thing from drop down menu

advance mode = enter aperture, distance, focal length manually

reverse mode = enter camera, and near focus distance and far focus distance, the app fill calculate all possible aperture and focal length combinations to achieve that depth of field

Av Mode = variable aperture mode, enter camera, focal length, and subject distance, app will calculate and display variation in depth of field for aperture ranging from F1 to F128.
