We went to Joshua Tree National Park, about 1 hour's drive from home, hoping to shoot some wild life shots, especially birds. It turned out that I couldn't possibly come close enough to any bird in the wide open desert. So I gave up. While I was driving,I saw something acrossed the road. I thought it was a rabbit. I slowed down my car and stopped and there,I saw a coyote hunting something. I immediately grabbed my camera, attaching the B-300 on it. First, he didn't notice us,but soon he sensed our presence and staring at us and walking toward us. He came as close as 7 ft.

Wow!
poor guy looks dead tired & hungry!
this shots are way too good.....

@loha-Frances.

Zoo shots are interesting, but real wild life shoots (without any fences) have allways this 'how can I take this picture without making it going away' tension in it. One step to far and the subject is runing away.
Like it very much, good job.

Thanks for your comments. I exactly had the same tention when I took these shots. I was afraid that the coyote would go away if he saw us,but luckily he didn't.

Thanks. It was very thrilling to shoot a real wild life shot like these.

My son was sitting on the passenger seat of my car with the window wide open and he was scared that the coyote would attack us.

Wow.. brave of you. We have these in our backyard but they come down mostly at night. I can't imagine standing there like that.

What a great reward you got for your bravery.. :)

You are so lucky to get so close. I am very surprized he let you that close. I spend allot of time in the woods and I never was so lucky with a coyote.

Great pictures, Hide. You even captured his wariness. Thanks, Jan

Hi Hide Takahash,

And I know this has made the trip to a complete succes.

Very fine wild life shooting.

Great Shots!

Joshua Tree is such a nice place. I visited there in 88' while visiting friends in Palm Springs.

Great shots! I used to live where these guys were prevalent, if you
ever hear them at night when the whole pack starts yapping it is
sort of scary. Reno
I know what you mean. I used to live nearby a mountain and I quite often heard coyotes' yapping. For a safety reason,we stayed in the car.
