Amazon.com acquires dpreview.com

.. they can start charging $0.05 for every search you run.

I don't see why Amazon would want to buy this site. What is the economic advantage for them to own a free info site?

expect a LOT of Amazon advertisements on dpreview.com and Amazon.com will offer lots more photo equipment for sale. It's all about the almighty $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

And Amazon can add a button at the end of each review: "Put in my basket..." !

Unfortunately, IMO what made DPReview so popular... the apparent un-comercially-biased objectivity (this is not to say that it isn't biased in some other ways), will be no longer be possible under the Amazon's ownership...
