Interesting shots. They were fun to look at. However in my opinion they are a little dark - esp for the subject matter! I would try shining extra light on them and/or increasing the exposure time (with tripod) to brighten things up a bit.

Keep it up!

Thanx for your feedback!

I forgot to say they are all handheld pics, unfortunately I don't have a tripod....

Before i got mine, I used the floor, chairs, boxes...you name it!

Also, if you can't shine extra artificial light, on your subjects try during the daytime close to a bright window. I promise you it will make a big difference!

OK, I'll try it!!!

I think your monitor may need adjustment.
If anything I found many too bright! Very sharp, however!
I thought 1769 was the best image

I agree that there is some flash overexposure. I meant more the 'atmosphere'. Kind of dark and gloomy - very 'shadowy' to me. Like the toys were in a dark closet and someone suddenly opened the door and took some flash pictures.

The problem here is since there clearly is some flash overexposure, reducing the flash output would really make for dark pictures. The only way around this is to brighten up ambient light. Just my opinion of course..

they are not too dark but the backgrounds are, leading to the perception.

I read all the comments. If there was anything re: composition I didn't see it, so I will comment on that. Aside from the lighting issues already mentioned, I am thinking that for my taste they are a little too close in terms of cropping off hats or chins or beaks etc. Otherwise, pretty neat!

I know that it would be clearer when shooting daylight.
But my aim was to show some pictures taken with flash at low-light and macro.

If that was your "aim," Luppapa, I'd say you hit the target! I have been experimenting with macro-tele using common desk lamps and never gave a thought to using flash at such a short range. The critiques you have received in this thread were also very useful to me. For my part, I liked the images a lot. They gave me a fresh look at an all-too-familiar subject. tb

I have to take the pictures in tele when shooting macro with flash, otherwise the result would be an overexposed image.

I have never managed to do this any other way, so I am now used to it. Thanks for your feedback! :)
