Setting up Custom Settings (C1-3) and FN choices. All my lenses today are A-Mount with the LA-EA5 adapter. I currently have the Sony 16-50 SAL1650 lens on the camera. The lens is in AF and the camera is in AF-C. Some of my choices are not available because of the lens. Maybe it is because I'm using the adapter. I also have two other Sony lenses and a Tamron, a Sigma, and a Tokina.

I plan to get an E-Mount lens soon. Presuming these settings would be available with that lens and I set an option On, such as Pre-AF, what happens to that setting when I switch to an A-Mount lens with the adapter? What happens when I switch back?

If it just becomes unavailable with the A-Mount lenses and available again with the E-Mount lens, that is fine. If the option gets disabled/removed and I have to go back and update C1 again, that's bad. I can't test this myself at this time.

Should I presume all A-Mount lenses will have the same restrictions?

I don't have A7RV, but I use A7IV that has similar menu system and processor, together with both native and adapted A mount lenses through LA-EA5. Whatever the setting I choose for native e mount, remains, despite using adapter in the mean time. When using the adapted a-mount, they always focus with aperture wide open -just like on their native mount- and close aperture blades to required value for the taking, with quite much an audible click. When it comes to the third party a mount lenses, their behaviour varies from lens to lens, even if produced by the same manufacturer. For now, I have only one third party a-mount, Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro A007, which focuses more erratically on the adapter, than on my A900 or Minolta Dynax 5. There are discussions on DPR and Dyxum forums regarding more lenses. But when it comes to the focus points, they all get engaged when used on the adapter, just like the native lenses, unlike some limitations that were set in their native system. The biggest limitation of a to e adaptation is the FPS limit (6 or 8 with AF-C if I remember well, but I may be wrong), erratic behaviour of SOME third parties that I already mentioned and wobbliness of pin connections if heavy lenses are used and not supported by hand - you always want to support any heavier lens, starting from Sony Zeiss135mm f2.8, with hand, considering that the adapter is the weak point in this connection. Otherwise I didn't have much troubles. I use Sony 70-400 g II and while some native telephoto would be much more efficient, I'm happy with what I have
