Looking for some input from current a6700 owners. I have the a6600 and use the HDR function which I know was removed from the a6700 and replaced with HLG HEIF which requires an HDR compatible display to view the HLG HDR pics.

Setting HLG HEIF aside, how does the a6700 fare in high contrast situations for photos? Does it struggle with blown out skies for example? HDR would help with that quite a bit and not sure if the native shots out of the camera in JPEG are close to what a stacked HDR pic on the a6600 would look like?

Or would I need to stack in post to create an HDR pic manually now if the a6700 can’t replicate that output compared to the a6600?

Thanks!

As an exclusive raw shooter I can’t speak to out of camera jpeg but the basic sensor performance in terms of DR is essentially the same as the A6600:

Stacking raws in post is always going to give you more control and better results than than a backed in camera jpeg setting.
