Clearly Auto Focus and Tracking in the a6400 is fantastic. Still I have a few questions
Tracking Sensitivity: Tracking on the a6400 can still be imperfectly sticky when there’s interference in either the foreground or even background. I can discover only a couple of settings for “Tracking Sensitivity”, and that’s for video. For typical still photography, do you have any suggestions for improving “stickiness”, other than this setting or choosing a larger or smaller focus area?
This also raises general questions about the auto focus system in the a6400.
When in AF-C, can it be said that the image is continuously in focus as long as the box is green and not flickering green-white?
In Priority Set in AF-C: Why would one select Balanced Emphasis rather than AF? I can understand that there can be certain circumstances where an out of focus image is OK – i.e. documenting something when things are happening rapidly or where a continuity of still shots is desired, or in video – but in general one doesn’t want a still image to be out of focus, and that can be avoided by an “AF” setting. (Perhaps this can be better understood by explaining the decision algorithm for ‘balanced emphasis’—when does it tend to take an out of focused shot?).
If you are mainly shooting still or minimally moving or slowly moving subjects, do you set 'Balanced Emphasis or AF?
Might a Balanced Emphasis setting improve tracking sensitivity, or are tracking and auto focusing separately controlled entities?
Thank you
