All of a sudden, my A6000 won't accept any of my SD cards. I have new cards, old cards I've used before, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, various speeds. They work in my RX100. Now, with any SD card, the camera gives me "Unable to read memory card. Reinsert SD card" and I can't do anything else other than turn the camera off. Memory Sticks still work.

I've seen a couple references to this problem online but not much. Has anyone either fixed this themselves (unlikely) or had it fixed ? I tried resetting the camera (had to take the card out to get to the menu) to no avail (didn't think it would work). Sounds like something electrical - either a problem with contacts or a fried circuit.

Same problem here after only 2 years old. No solution.

I suppose a new body is under $400 these days...

I had that problem with my previous a5100. Never know why, it failed randomly and after some tries, it worked again. I had a microSD + adapter card, that's not the best combination although it worked fine. Now I'm using an a6000, same cards, works perfectly... Some kind of electronic curse :P

I SOLVED IT!

You have to clean the contacts inside the cameras card reader.

I used Clear Connections from The LASERline Company ($6 on Amazon)!

Wow - thanks for sharing ! Someone recommended cleaning the contacts, but I was going to have to finagle something skinny to wrap a pec pad around to try ... this looks perfect - I'll give it a try !

No luck - I bought the same cleaner from Amazon. Tried it a few times dry, then a few times with a cleaning solution w/no effect. I'm glad it worked for you, though, and appreciate the tip. I'll stick with my plan (use my Memory Stick and if I need more storage, use Micro SD with a Memory Stick adapter).
