A funny problem

"the only way they could have got it wrong was by dropping the camera!"

Murphy's law anyone? :-)

My 10 year old daughter knows that when she has Dad's camera the strap goes around her neck before I let go. Apart from that I never use the strap myself.

Okay
1. Educate stranger :

Great idea, but from experience, it does not work always. Esp if the native language of the stranger is not english. Even then its tough.
2. A-DEP : Not sure from responses
3. Auto mode: Should give you about 80% success rate!

4. citylights solution: F11. The best solution so far! Most shots like these are taken from about 10 feet+ away in daylight. One further question. If I put to F11 and select all focus points, there is a better chance of gettin a hit, right, since the camera will select the nearest focus point? Correct me if I am wrong

5. P&S backup cam: Our P&S died :(. Otherwise its a great option. As for theft danger, we were in singapore, and I can tell you that even if you leave your wallet in a bus, you will get it back. I forgot my tripod twice. And both times the officials/people went out of the way to help me get it back! A guy forgot his wallet on the bus. The bus driver sent a guy to run after him as he had already alighted. They guy gave a long chase and finally returned the wallet!!!
