A clean 8mp 1 1/8 sensor is possible...

We're on the 'eve' of seeing how Panasonic has responded to your concerns with the upcoming release of the LX2 and FZ50. Bring on the cameras!
Unfortunately most of what we discuss with engineers is 'not for
publication' - it's all subject to NDAs, but I can tell you that
Panasonic is well aware that noise levels are a bit high on the LX1
especially, and that their noise reduction isn't totally effective,
so you can be sure they're working to improve things.

7) Exposure technologies will be improved to make it foolproof.
This, my friend, is a pipe dream. Camera makers have been working on this problem for many years. For many situations, metering systems are pretty much fool-proof today, but there are still lighting situations where the "foolproof" part needs to come from between your ears, and those unwilling to do that will continue to complain about what the camera can't do.
