When I asked a Canon USA repair center person they told me the only hardware update was something with the shutter that caused the horizontal band near the top. Chuck Westfall informed me that any camera with v1.2 had this corrected. Did you ever post some of the iso 200 banding shots? mark

--If a digicam is partitioned like most mixed mode systems, there is
a baseband digital section and an analog section. The analog
section crosses over to the digital section via an ADC.
Programmable ADCs like the TI TAFE1040 are common. What's
programmable is the delay and gain, which in turn likely "solve"
the banding issue if adjusted correctly. Here's the TI specs:

after a week and one day, i got my 1D back from Canon HK.
I talked to the technician while the camera was in their service
center.
anyway, here is what they claimed they have 'fixed'
They just put down they have upgraded the firmware, which got me
all pissed off because I already upgraded the firmware to 1.30
myself before i brought in the camera. So i questioned the
technician, and after asking his supervisor, he said the 'firmware'
they are referring to is for the ANALOG portion, NOT the one I
downloaded from the web. Can ANYONE please tell me if 'Analog
Firmware' exist? or did the guy just make it up?
He also said he did not noticed any front AF problem that i was
experience. i did a quick test, and surely enough, the problem s
gone. weird...
anyway, i will be trying it out when the sun comes out. wish me luck.
