Looks awesome to me. Doesn't this make you want to take all shots in IR?

I am anxious to learn IR but there are so many other things I need to learn how to do first.

Well done Tony. Keep em coming.

Chad

Thanks Chad....when you are in a city you have never been before there are so many things to take pics of it is hard to find time to add/remove the filters. I will at some point go out for the day with the filters attached permantly.

Look on ebay for a 74-72mm step down ring that will allow the use of 72mm filters. Then you need to get a semi decent R72 Infra Red filter such as a Hoya or Kood (what i use) and also a NDx8 filter in 72mm that screws onto the first filter. I got a Hoya NDx8 as it is no point getting a cheap brand.

Once you have all that you just shoot in nightshot mode and adjust the EV compensation to control the light entering the camera.

There are several other options instead of 72mm filters so do a search for infra red on here and they will come up
Tony

Can you let me know in brief, what I need to do to take IR pictures

Where do I get these filters? I live in the UAE.

Thanks

you are really getting the hang of IR now. good work.

You didn't ask for suggestions, but I hope you don't mine my offering, you could do a little editing to bring out the detail on the statues, and make the tree leaves a little more white to get some additional overall contrast.

get the filters that Tony is talking about, then your exposures will be a lot better and the noise will be greatly reduced.

Read this section on my IR Buzz. It shows the 717, but almost everything applies to any of the Nightshot capable cameras.

The site also has reviews of the H series cameras and IR. Look around while you visit my site.

I straightened pic slightly, adjusted the levels slightly..then upped contrast slightly, and sharpened slightly.

Tony,

Was looking at your picture and it was somwhat familiar. Been to Berlin last fall, and took somewhat the same picture, only not IR. So if you want the same view without IR, here it is:

By the way, I really love what you are doing with IR.

Looks like you're off to a good start with IR. I was looking thru some of your posts from a few weeks ago and noticed that you had some trouble landing an H50 that was without the corner issues that you made note of. I'm considering an H50 as well and wonder if you know if this was a bad batch or is every buyer in for some grief before he/she finds a good one? Thanks for the imput.

except that you miss a bit of drama in the sky just behind the statue. This is only because both photos are next to each other, remove the original and you don't notice it.

Both are beautiful, but I would've done a similar correction I think...

The corner issue was more a smudge/blur and not softness. All the cameras i have had have a bit of corner spftness though the 3rd camera is much better and definatlu suffers less PF and noise.....3rd time lucky i guess. All were from the same batch to be honest so i can not explain that.

I would either get the camera in a local shop as long as price was fair so that i could test and exchange easily or if that is not an option a good online retailer you can trust could save some headaches if you got a bad copy.

I think there must be some QC issues but it is not possible to say how wide spread this might be. If you get a good one you will be very happy though as it is such a flexible camera. Good luck!
