Dear all,

I'm a newbie in digital camera and in this forum. So, pardon my lackness.

Anyway, I got a Sony DSC-S70 camera with a 64mb Memory Stick (the blue regular one). In the past, it used to function well. But, recently I got format error 'C:13:01'. I tried all the suggestion that I could find in this forum, but to no success. I can only get it to read from the ms meaning I can see pictures on the camera screen, but when I switch to 'still' or 'movie' to take some pictures, the error pops out. The same result when I tried to format it with my camera.

Can someone help?

Thanks.

The Memory Stick is probably damaged and no longer usable. However, before you replace it, (assuming you haven't) attempt to format it again to see it that corrects the situation. Most likely you will need to replace.

This happened to me last week when a relatively new Compact Flash card wouldn't work in my F828. Like the S70, which I also own, it gave me a C:13:## error message. It also wouldn't work in my computer card reader. So, last weekend, on my way through Wichita I dashed into Circuit City and bought another. The 256MB CF was only $39 after rebate.

While I doubt it's the case, check the contacts on the MS and inside the S70 to see it there is any dirt. I had this happen to me once, when one of the contacts on a MS became soiled. Simply had to wipe it clean.

Well, I've checked the contacts and have cleaned it with contact cleaner, but no success. The thing is, if it's damaged then I shouldn't be able to use it with my card reader. In my case I can use it and format it with my card reader, but not with my camera.

And, yes, I open the lens cap. Otherwise, the error message will be different.
