Attended a friends sons first holy communion party on Saturday, I showed up with the D100 and my 24-120 VR lens. They asked me to take some photos for them.

I was more than glad to this for them, partiulcaly since I am shooting another a 50th wedding aniversary and vow renewal service and party on Saturday. they know I am not a profresional photographer but had another friend backout so I am just trying to help them out.

I really like the way the SB800 works for indoor shots and fill flash outdoors. The 24-120 would not be my lens of choice for next weekend but it is a good alround general purpose lens. Here are a few examples. I plan on using the 50mm and the 70-200VR and possibly the 12-24 for some shots of the church next weekend.

I have laready went to the church and checked it out at the same time as the ceremony to get an idea of the lighting. I checked with the priest on my ability to move around and use flash, so that I am not dealt to many suprises when I show up

Wish me luck for next weekend I am already nervous. any tips or advice would be greatly appreicated.

grandparents (Wish I would have had a diffent lens for better bokeh and have them pose in a better spot)

Finally out of that darn suit!

It looks like you have a good handle on this type of image. I too am headed next weekend to a confirmation party... so we will need to compare notes on what we have learned...

Hi Mike,

I though all D100 would have stopped working now that the D70 is out, but your D100 is just doing a perfect job!!!!!

Nice job on the communion and best wishes for the upcoming shoot.

I also liked your concert shots, well done. Guess I have to get an SB800, lol.

I think you are handling the whole thing quite well.

A little note, to be taken with a grain of salt please, just be careful with the backgrounds ... Otherwise, I won't give you any advice for the exposure, you have it quite set up.

SB800 will do the job ...
