Since the girls have had their chance to take a look at the pictures i took of them, I thought I might post the last of them.

4 images have been posted a while back, but because of the overwealming interest for this camera, here is the rest. (the 4 images that i put on pbase, had more then 70.000 hits)

Pictures are still unedited, in any form.

Lens: 24-70 2.8L

Enjoy...

Don't ask me...I just point and shot!!!

It's worth noting that the embedded profile on these images is Adobe RGB so just to make sure you'll want to view them in a color space aware application, not via your browser.

Cheers, Joe

That the original shots I saw a month ago, were on a fake backdrop.

Duh, dumbass me.

I thought they were shot live at a game (since they were only linked to)...

Looking forward to shooting some beautiful girls on REAL backdrops.

Thanks for posting the shots...

Rick

As i was and am unfamiliar with setting much on a 1d mark II, i picked it up, checked that it was set to 100 ISO and started shooting, so not muc tech stuff there

The images i put online was shot while all the other people there was sitting and listening to some canon representative was explaning the camera, so i left this and found the camera itself, much more fun.

After shooting these I came back about an hour after I took the first ones with the Mark II, and about 50 persons had fidled with all the settings, and i was not able to set it back, to the settings from the privious shoots. I did manage to get it somewhat working, but the one that turned out ok, is very dark. I also took about 10 pics, before I found out that someone had put it in RAW mode, there are no decoder, tried various RAW decoders. But not sure with would have made much difference as the images were shot in ISO 1000, and way to lit.

I extracted the EXIF data from the very first shot, and now you´re as wise as i am.

Carsten,
If these are unedited, you must have been shooting JPEG with some
camera adjustments for contrast and saturation? True?
Thanks, Charles

Hi,

Absolutely amazing out-of-the-camera quality. But it gets even better: these images sharpen really wonderful in photoshop - even to the extend that I would probably often use medium resolution for casual snapshots....

Rats. I guess this means I'll be spending $4500 more on camera stuff this year....

Cheers,

Erik

There is no hint of noise in the shadows, and they sharpen very well, using USM 1.0 50% + USM 0.5 50%. Some of the best image files I have ever seen !

Thanks, Iain West

If you still have them I believe Chris Breeze has released a beta version of Breeze Browser that supports 1DMkII conversion.

They remind me of Agnetha and Annafreid (sp) of Abba (OK, the brunette doesn't actually look like Annafreid but you know what I mean ;-). I'm going to have a go at sharpening one of the long range shots and see how it goes..

Thanks Carsten :)

I have seen the other pics before but just looked at the first pic of the two girls from a distance. The fake turf in the foreground is tack sharp and the girls are about like the usual pics from the markII. (soft)

Maybe thats the problem the camera has focusing issues or the people using it just don't know how>

But a quick play with this image says enough for me ;)

What impresses me most on the 1D2 is the dynamic range - I've rarely seen any blown highlights on this camera.
I think most will feel that the sharpness is fine, too.

What do you think .. It'll NEVER be as pixel level sharp as the Mk1, I think we'll have to accept that, but the images are showing a LOT of detail

100% Crops from the 1D MK1 - 100-300L (the old Coffee grinder) wide open at F5.6 handheld at 300mm processed in FVU (G5 Edition) at sharp 3 and levelled in photoshop)

Yes, i like the amount of detail, frightningly close to 1Ds!

We will have to work a little harder on our images, i think but the pay off IMO should be worth it.

I do like the out of camera colour(tweekable anyway) but i think i will cool mine down just a tad.

I am also looking forward to trying different lenses, as we now have an option of high res, but slightly slower lenses due to the better noise handling.

I personaly have never been a great fan of noise reduction software really, although i have felt i am forced into them when using ISO 200 onwards.
