The cat with no name -
(Actually, we finally resolved to call him Grendel) -

Who some of you have seen all to often (together with his nearly identical sister Echo)

Was busy murdering a litter of baby rabbits last night on the bank of our tiny road, unaware that a diversion had send a lot of traffic along.

Anyway, the long and short of it was that he copped his lot - mercifully it was instant.

He was only 8 months old, and irretrievably soppy (leave the bedroom door open and it was like sleeping with a motor boat).

His sister, who was always the one with the brains, survives him.

Anyway - live by the sword, die by the sword

Please don't feel obliged to send loads of consolatory messages, but here are a couple of happier memories:

Hello Jono,

Well, that's to bad but you still have the other one, and of course Brenda.
And as they say, an animal is man's best friend ...

Er, that would be a dog is man's best friend. Cats merely tolerate us to get food and a wee bit of scratch now and then. Cats have us alllllll figured out and know exactly what they're doing and how to play us ;-) Dogs love you even if you don't feed 'em. If all this weren't true, cats would wag their tails too! Ever see a cat wag his tail? The mere thought cracks me up! Cats are much too dignified to participate in such frivious and silly activities. I 've mourned every one of my pet's passing. I always hated when a cat or dog left us. I hope the family's mourning is brief.

Was led to believe that a cat had nine lives...maybe the seven bunnies he took down were counted against him. We'll miss him.

Hi Ken

we're all pretty pragmatic about such things around here - the kids mourning lasted about 10 minutes.

You are partly right about cats - this one wasn't that dignified however - kept missing over ambitious jumps (like on to your shoulders) and landing on the floor - maybe that was his downfall!

Hi John

rather a similar looking mog - we have tabbyssinians (half abbyssinian and half tabby) - nice - Grendel should have spent more time sleeping and less time murdering!

Sorry to hear of your loss. Muffin sends his condolences.

Dogs have owners...

People on the other hand get attached to whatever bits of warm fur hang around for more than a few days! sigh

Yes, cats are wonderful subjects, and I find it really helps to admire them and tell them how very beautiful they are.

You're little bunny-murderer looks alot like my little mouse-breath kitty, who's done her share of controlling the baby bunny population in the yard, (but isn't bold enough to venture into the street, thank goodness.)

Sorry that you lost such a wonderful photo subject and a sweet pet. I really enjoyed the photos you posted.

Juno,

Terribly sorry to hear about your cat. One of the downsides to haveing animals around as pets is just this sort of thing. Every time we loose a cat, or dog, of hampster, or gerbal, or fish... we always say "No more... That's it... not one more pet..!!!"... We currently have three cats and a Sugar Glider.. ;-)

HI Bart
what on earth is a sugar glider? fish, gerbel, hampster?

We used to be like that on the 'never again', but I'm afraid that my wife is the only one around here that shows any signs of sentimentality, and even she is pretty callous.

We rang the lady we got these ones from (half tabby, half abyssynian) and she has a litter of 2 week old kittens from the same parents . . . . . . but do we have one, or two?

whatever
thanks for replying,
kind regards

Juno?! aaaah now a compulsory sex change :-)

JONO (Sorry about the Juno thing... I'm easily confused)

A sugar glider is a small rodent looking animal from Australia. Itis a "glider" so it has webing between it's front and rear legs. It is nocturnal and has the huge eys... and funny ears.... It's actually related to the Knagaroo. I'll try and post a photo of it later.

Jono:

Sorry about your loss. We have a cat that rules the house also. I know it would be a sad day if something would happer to her.
