What was your first digicam???

There was also the Canon Pro90.

I cannot imagine why no-one is making a new model 10x zoom with IS and more pixels.

Everyone I know who has a 2100UZ would not part with it for anything. Just browse through the Olympus Forum and read how rabid the UZI fans are.
8x - 10x zoom with Image Stabilization were rather popular until a
couple of years ago (Oly 100 RS, Oly 2100 UZ, Sony fd 91 and CD
1000, ....). Then why all major manufacturers discontinued these
cameras without replacing with new similar models (far reach zoom
w. I.S.)?

My last work:
http://space.virgilio.it/[email protected]/index.html

Mine was a Samsung Digimax 130 @ 1.3MP. Then a Sony DSC-P31. And
then a Minolta S414 and soon to be, Sony DSC-V1.

When I started out I didn't know a thing about digital cameras so I
bought the Samsung based on it's price ($140). I've should have
known that you get what you pay for. The pics were horrible with
way too much noise even for email and web pics. So I returned it
and forked over another $60 for the Sony and all I can say then
was, wow! the picture quality was like night and day compared to
the Samsung. I didn't think optical zoom would be that important as
the Sony had none but I soon found out that it was and that's why I
sold it and got the Minolta with a 4x zoom lens. Very nice camera
that took some pretty impressive pics. That all ended when it was
stolen right from my own room=(. If you notice, there's a trend
here. Each camera is getting more and more expensive..lol. The soon
to be V1 will be the most and I still can't figure out how I
convinced myself to get such an expensive camera. My girlfriend
didn't seem to mind too much either but she liked the G3 more but
also prefer MS format as her laptop has a built in MS reader in it.
I like the G3 too but it was just a bit too bulky for me so my
final decision came down to the v1. Hopefully this $700 camera
wont dissappoint as I want this camera to be the last I have to buy
without getting tempted again to upgrade.

I bought the Fuji 2600Z a year ago when it went on clearance. It's still the only digicam I have.

Hi Jvang,

My first digital camera was a Sony 505v. Loved many things about it EXCEPT that its' autoficus behavior, especially for portraits with busy backgrounds, was horrendous. The 505v and I had MANY "clashes" surrounding this issue until it was put into retirement when I bought an Oly 2100uz. The Oly is a better camera in every respect, except in its' macro capability. At some point I will probably get a DSLR, but the little 2100uz has been a phenomenal photo partner! Curt
