My first venture into learning to shoot the night sky. new to me Canon 5D MkIV and EOS 24-105 f/4.0
Please tell me what the streak is. It appears in every shot but only at night. Can't see it in daylight pics at all.

Are you referring to the red flare bit at the bottom of the image, or the satellite line [streak]?

Some reflection? Try taking a photo with same exposure time but with the lens cap on, to rule out reflections from the outside.

"Changes in version 1.0.4:
1. Fixes a phenomenon in which a red-colored area may appear at the bottom-center of a captured image when shooting in bulb mode or during a long exposure."

When you update your firmware, make sure that you don't use the latest firmware version 1.5.0 but 1.4.0 instead.

Read the change log to see why.
