Lit with a Broncolor Para 222 in its fully defocused position (strobe positioned furthest out).

IMO, it has an extraordinary look on a face. Highlights, soft shadow transitions.

Paras, are fully adjustable to create a spot light look as well. By focusing the strobe close to the inside of the Para 222 you can get other looks like:

Great work. I'm jealous of that Para. :)

At college, some 40 years ago, I would have mainly just used the available light to take pictures of people like this...

(Kevin Lee from London at the University of Houston swimming pool in May 1982)

(Katy Archer in Taub Hall at the University of Houston during the Fall of 1980)

(Nicky Gray from Durban in South Africa, in the changing rooms at the University of Houston swimming pool during a swim meet with SMU in February 1982)

(Johnnie Means, our gym coach at the University of Houston, during the Spring of 82)

.. which at that time my teachers really liked.

Posted many of them on Facebook a few years ago - since I still stay in touch with a lot of those people - and the reaction made me wish I had taken a lot.

Creating images to tell a story... just for you!
Cheers,
Ashley.

Yeah, thank you. For obvious reasons, years ago - I went cheap, cheap, cheap with lighting modifiers like most people will tend to do.

Over time - and tiring of the results and trying way too hard, finally pulled the trigger. Paras have made all the difference for work and play. Working on scheduling a shoot at a Harley Davidson dealer. One model is super excited about doing it. She may buy a bike during the shoot lol. Still in the creative planning stages. Will definitely bring out the big guns for it.
