Welcome to the Weekly Image Thread!

This thread will appear every Saturday (GMT). If the thread is nearing full before the next Saturday, I may start a new thread and carry on until it fills or the next Saturday arrives and it is reasonably full in which case I will start another. Confused, so am I! From time to time the start could be delayed if I am unavailable.

Although this Weekly thread is in the Olympus SLR forum, we openly welcome users of all brands and models.

Please:

  1. Reply to this post and change the TITLE!
  2. Please reply to at least one other contribution, your replies encourage posters!!!
  3. If asked, please share your processing techniques or technical details.
  4. Please show the EXIF if possible. Please identify the lens used regardless of which camera was used to take the image. This helps people form opinions of the lens used with the body to possibly influence future acquisitions.
  5. If special lighting was used to create your image stating what was done may help others.
Thanks for joining and contributing this week.

If you post a pano that is on its own and not part of set of images feel free to post it as a reply to this post. I will not always have one ready so don't wait for me to post one before you!

All I have shot since the eleventh is hockey. The one grandson's team was in a tournament and they are now done for the season. The other grandson's team is in the semifinals for their loop (Ontario minor hockey has the province divided up into areas. Each loop has a playoff and the winners of those playoff for the Ontario championship for their age groups. This is for 'rep hockey' which is the best of the players in each team's area.)

So, more birds. Not really my forte!

Great assembly in the wild. Well done.

Another nice series Chris. The crane shots bring back memories from 1966 for me, working a summer job for Niagara Peninsula Insulation, up on the crane rails and onto the crane as well. This was in a Westinghouse transformer plant in Hamilton down off Burlington St. The crane was huge! I was not a happy camper walking on the crane rails far above the factory floor! I remember that part but have no recollection of why I was up there! Presumably to install some insulation on something but that part of the memory is gone! The crane had a 250 ton capacity and two of them were required to lift the larger transformers up and place them on a railway car for transport.

hi Andrew you have spring well advanced, where we are there is still snow on the ground and frost at night but now this week the weather should start to warm up,,,yes this has been expected!

These pictures are from a couple trips in early March to the local Botanical Gardens ... And as expected the Daffodils are growing everywhere and are plentiful

but this time of year we're looking for wildflowers. And we found these wood anemones

and, of course some turtles ..

A Bloodroot

The Japanese Cherry trees were in bloom ahead of the freeze ..

and hyacinths are blooming

The gardens are not yet completely ready for many guests but are great for local visitors looking for spring and walkers like me. They are working to get the gardens ready for tourists ..

A final Camellia as we leave the gardens ..

More from mid March another day ..

Nostalgia .... very nice but reminds me that I haven't been to the refuge for several years and so haven't seen the cranes who are now home in Kansas or western Canada ...

Hi

I photographed this guy from our backyard, we were staring at each other, me behind the window, camera in my hands.

Hello all, I'm new here. I caught this pair of river otters with my ancient Olympus E-30/Sigma 50-500mm f/4-6.3 combination. A tripod was used to keep the ISO down. I imagine that most of the ice will be gone by tomorrow.

Very nice! Look like large creatures.
Thank you. Yes they are quite large, weighing somewhere between a small and medium sized dog.

I like your C-2020Z IR shot. I've dabbled with IR but I haven't quite figured out how to post process them yet.

I recently picked up a C-8080WZ and a C-5060WZ. Maybe I'll work my way down to a C-2020Z soon.

That is a nice image Harri! Good to stay indoors when it is cold! Well for me it is. When I was younger we went outdoors and enjoyed a sunny day in the snow. Not so much any more.

Hope you and your wife are doing well.

Andrew
