I could use some help with my camera.

When I turned the Fuji GFX 100 ii on yesterday, I got a message that says:

"TURN OFF THE CAMERA AND TURN ON AGAIN."

I turned it on and off several times and still got the message. Since then I have tried the following:

- Changed lenses

- Removed the lens and put the Body Cap on

- removed the battery for a while

- Removed the CF card

- Removed the EVF

- upgraded the firmware from 1.10 to 1.20

None of these have made a difference. The message still comes up after a few seconds. When the camera starts, I can feel the what I think is the IS engage. Then, the message comes up and the IS disengages. It does this regardless of whether there is a lens on the camera.

Interestingly, if I press the shutter button, before the message comes up, it will take a well focused image. I can also go to the menu screen by pressing the menu button. I had hoped that I could reset the camera to default by doing this, but the message comes up too quickly to do anything within the menu system.

Also, if I press the Play button, I can review the images on the card, but when I go back to shooting mode the message comes up again.

All help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Sure thing, so what you're going to do is:

You send it to Fuji to be repaired.

Works 99% of the time.

I was hoping for a way to get it working without sending it back.

Since the shutter will release and capture an image before the error message comes up, it seems that it is a glitch in the software as opposed to hardware.

I've noticed that there are other reports of this on the web where it was fixed on other GFX cameras by tightening the lens. So, I was hoping there might be other ways of clearing this message.

May be worth cleaning the contacts in the lens mount and on the lenses. I had this problem after using a hired lens, cleaned the contacts and it hasn't happened since. I used a tiny bit of isopropyl alcohol on a cleaning bud, similar to the ones used to clean sensors (not the one's you might have in the bathroom that can deposit lint everywhere).
