Recently watched a (Plena review?) video where the photographer had a magnetically mounted 3-stop ND filter.

Of course, now I can't find the video.

Curious what others are using?

Thanks!

nvm. Found it. From Hudson Henry vid - Kase Revolution filters.

I use the K&F concept Nano coated 82mm magnetic filters and they are great. There is no color cast and the magnets hold the filters very well. I only have the 6 and 10 stop ND filters for them, not the polarizer.

The 'good' ones are the Kase magnetic filters, but not cheap

The cheaper versions are the K&F set, and to be honest I don't really notice the difference - the good thing is that the mag polarity is the same on both systems, so you can mix and match. I have ND and CPL from one company, pro mist from another etc. I think possibly the K&F system has slightly stronger magnets

2 things to note - they can prevent use of the lens hoods if left on. Kase do a magnetic hood, but it is big and ugly.

Also, don't leave a filter on and put the magnetic lens caps over it - the lens caps are only strongly mounted when direct to the adapter ring without a filter in between. I had a hell of a search first time I didn't realise that and had to go hunting

I just recently purchased the Kase Revolution Professional ND kit. I can't compare or comment on other systems, I've never used them. But good to know that I can use some K&F circular magnetic filters.

I am mostly using it on my Canon 24mm f1.4 ii, 16-35mm, and 24-105mm lenses. I opted for the 82mm kit based on the recommendation to go one size up if you are stacking on wide angle lenses.

The hood isn't the daintest but is useable. The magnetics are quite strong and once you use them you never want to go back to screwing something on the lens.

Here is the kit I got but note the price is Canadian, the American price will definitely be lower:

In the U.S., Kase has a store on eBay.

What I noticed at this site posted above is that the filters are all Wolverine not Revolution.

Here is an American link where the entire gamut Kase filters are covered:

The great thing about the Kase magnetic system is that you can buy a magnetic adapter for your existing circular filters and magnetic attachment ring for your lens.

Somehow, I'm not sure how, I missed seeing the Revolution items, I can't even figure out how unless I was tired when I looked at the screen.

I ordered the Revolution Entry Kit from the Kase store on eBay on Saturday. It arrived today, Monday(!)

Mounted it on the Plena and very pleased.

Top quality, really nice case, and happy to have a 6-stop and a circularizer along with the 3 stop ND.

For anyone shooting outdoors and wanting to keep it wide open, this is an excellent solution.

Can you? Do you mean to convert threaded filters to mag filters?

I looked for that very thing the other day and couldn't find it, I don't suppose you have a link you could share?

Thanks!

You should be asking Phil Shaw in an above post rather than me, I never knew an adapter as he mentions even existed.

You need the Kase Magnetic Circular Adaptor Ring for your existing filter, plus the Kase Magnetic Inlaid Ring for your lens.

Thanks for this - I have the magnetic mount on all my lenses - are you then saying that (for an 82mm Threaded filter) that this part -

kase-revolution-inlaid-ring-82mm

Will attach to my threaded filter and let me use it on the Kase magnetic lens mount?

Apologies if I am being dumb - the description doesn't reference adapting threaded filters to the system, just talks about lens caps, so just checking I understand it right

The inlaid ring is screwed into the thread on the lens. The filter adaptor (I guess the part that you have) screws on to the filter.

I have found "adapter" can mean a few things leading to confusion. I have the inlaid adapter which in theory screws into my lens but it doesn't because I'm using a step up ring from 77 to 82. The inlaid adapter screws into my step up ring which the magnetized filters use to grab onto.

Hi both

I checked this out as the website descriptions weren't matching what I'd hoped, they did not mention converting threaded filters - so I emailed Kase and they DO offer such a thing, but it is listed as a converter set - details here

thanks for steering me to these, very helpful
