Hi!

I am looking for a wireless remote shutter release for the RX100 VI.

Wireless and without any receivers via USB on the camera.

Something like this should exist for a cam with Bluetooth and Wifi.

However, I have found only two devices compatible with the RX100 VII: the original Sony RMT-P1BT and the supposedly identical remote control JJC RMT-P1BT (at Amazon). I ordered the one from JJC; it also pairs easily - but none of the buttons affect the camera, although the LED on the remote lights up when pressed. (yes, the remote is not locked, and the Bluetooth sign is "active" in the display - and when locked, "passive" ... But always visible...).

I also don't need all these options, the zoom +/- etc. - I want to trigger the shutter remotely - the rest is just a gimmick...
For me, such a cheap Bluetooth version, as it is often enclosed with selfie sticks, would be enough if there is one that works with the RX100 VI.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Tom

Just download the sony imaging app on your smartphone

read this, works like a charm:

What's the problem with using your phone as the remote control?
Nigel, actually I want to use it for Selfies.
Camera on the long arm and in the other hand the remote, so I don't have to break my fingers pressing the shutter and use the remote instead ...

For great shots on the pole the mobile for shutter release is perfect - but not for a quick selfie... Right now I tend to use the "3 sec. pre counter" for selfies...

That's why I said I don't need any of the functionality on the remote - only the shutter release...

Well, I've found that using the smartphone for camera control works very well for selfies as well as for reasing the shutter of the cam in difficult to handle positions (like very low positions).

For selfies perhaps the major challenge for not-that-smatphone-affine people like me is finding the shutter release button on the smartphone surface w/o looking at it but looking into the cam :-)

The RX100VII has a Bluetooth remote control function that you turn on after pairing the Bluetooth remote. On the RX100VI, you might be able to pair the remote, but there is no Bluetooth remote control setting for you to select. It is unlikely it will be added to the RX100VI via a firmware upgrade. This is just one of numerous reasons I sold my RX100VI and upgraded to the RX100VII.
