Hi, I have a i1 display pro calibrator that has 12 years and a new MacBook Pro 14" 2023.

Should I calibrate the screen of my Mac or just trust Apple factory settings so leave it as it is?
I wonder because my calibrator is 12 yr. old and I think neither the technology of the screen or the Mac's colorspace was even invented when I got the calibrator.

What would you advice?

I have not much knowledge about calibration process (I use xrite software and Benq palette master software on my RGB Benq screen by just setting everything to auto and RGB).

Thanks!

Search for "artisright" on YouTube. He is the best source of information about Mac screens and calibrating them. He specifically has great information on the proper settings of the M1 and M2 machines and screens for photography.

Short answer: your MBP has an XDR display, so you can't calibrated it with your device. Go to Apple's support pages and look up the XDR display and you'll find (as I did) that XDR displays only support 2 specific calibrators. They go into some detail about the built-in profiles.

YouTube – ArtIsRight | How to create custom preset, fine tune & calibrate 14 & 16 MacBook Pro With XDR displays

I would guess that the information applies to the 14" and 16" (M2 Pro / M2 Max) MBPs as well as the 14" and 16" (M1 Pro / M1 Max) ones.

Thank you all; pretty clear then, I will leave it just as it is

Watch the ArtIsRight videos. He shows how to set up the screen for photography apps.
