Hi,

The XE4 has been impossible to obtain in Australia for many months. Retailers have listed it as out of stock with no known ETA for re-stocking. The same experience has been reported overseas - in the US and Europe. Posters here have put it down to chip supplies, supply chain issues, distribution issues, covid, etc, etc, etc. I don't know if anyone outside of Fuji actually knows, and Fuji aren't saying.

A major Australian retailer (Camera Pro) has now posted that the XE4 is 'no longer available'. That seems to be a bit more terminal than 'out of stock'.

So.... End of the model? The end of the line? Or the XE5 imminent (please)? I have to say that I like the idea of an ultralight Fuji ILC (as a back up and travel body) but just haven't been able to get one.

Just my opinion. I feel Fuji has focused their manufacturing efforts and chip supplies to the newest XH and XT series. New things sell right? Same situation with the XT100v. Are the XE4 and 100va about to become discontinued and replaced with a newer camera? My guess no. I suspect they will further stream line the product line and focus on where sales volumes lie. Which makes the unavailability of the xt00v a bit of mystery other than Fuji must have some serious production constraints.

Hi,

You can't buy something that retailers can't get into stock, so it's impossible to know demand when supply isn't guaranteed. Certainly there are people here saying they want to buy the XE4 and X100v, and can't get them, but it would be a mistake to confuse this rather vocal forum with Fuji's wider market. I don't know what the true situation is.....

Cheers, R

I don't have any personal knowledge of the situation. But in my day job I do work with manufacturers in different industries.

In recent times, companies had to allocate their scarce parts and labor. I had a number of projects where we helped prioritize products and orders to maximize revenue. So based on all the parts you have today, you should make XXX because it has the best margins and is not missing any components. Then based on your capacity, you will get to YYY next week, etc.

So it would not be surprising if Fuji is allocating its factories to make higher price items if there is a parts or labor shortage. B&H in the US estimates it will be available in 6-10 weeks, so maybe Fuji did exactly this.

I like the X-E? line. I could live with the X-T40 if I need to. If it exists. Even an X-S20. But I do value the nicely pocketable E line. Hopefully the fact that they've sold all the ones they've made so far is a good sign.

I hope this doesn’t bite them in the butt. As a long time user, I do not care for these bodies. I would imagine I’m not alone.

At the detriment of two highly sought after models? These two cameras are hot on social media. Unfortunate as that is, Fuji cannot ignore that.

Yep… they just can’t make enough of everything it seems.

You better have your finger on the trigger the moment X-E5 preorders are open because you're competing against people who just want an X-E5 AND people who couldn't get an X-E4.

I am also checking those X-E4, X-Pro3 and X100Vs. As others have said, probably Fuji allocated pieces where the money is, maybe they produce 1 X-Pro vs 100 X-T5s, we don't know.

The only ones who benefit from all this are scalpers flipping cameras for 2 times their retail price. I have seen on eBay and Amazon X100Vs asking $2300 and even $2700. A friend of mine bought a new X-E4 with the 27mm for $1500. 🤔

I’m starting to think other manufacturers have to be noticing what going on with the X100V.
