Hi

i got my r6 mark ii today. The first thing I noticed the rattling noise when the camera is off and you shake it. It goes away when camera is turned on.

I was told that thats nml noise from stabilizer, however it’s significantly loud compared to my R5. I know it’s early that many have not gotten the camera yet. But those who do please tell share your experience. It worries me

many thanks

I just got mine today. I don't hear any weird noise when I shake the camera when off.

Never notice any sound. I only hear the shutter closing when shutting down.

Another data point for you…I got my R6 Mark ii today. I’ve barely had a chance to use it but definitely hear and feel the noise you describe. It’s a little bit like there is something loose inside the camera. I’m not particularly concerned as I had also read something about this before I got the camera.

Cheers,

D

Yes that’s exactly how I feel, something loose inside camera making banging noise when u flip or shake camera when it’s off. This disappears when I turn the camera on. It’s weird. My R5 doesn’t have this sound or it’s significantly muffled.

thank you

Mystery solved. It’s nml. See link below

What is nml?
A Bing search suggests that it is short for “normal” in some circles. Perhaps, but my R6 Mk ii either doesn’t make that noise or I am not in the habit of shaking it violently enough like the YouTuber in the video. I think of the device as a camera and never use it as a castanet.

Stop shaking it?
