When I shoot the soccer game I always need my focusing area to be in the center of the viewfinder. However, when I switch to vertical I often touch the screen with my nose by accident and it moves focusing point away from the center.

Is there a way to fully disable touch focus on EOS RP? There has to be but I haven't found it so far.

Wrench menu, submenu 3, touch control. You can disable touch control altogether.

Solution
In the Camera menu 7, there is an option to disable Touch &drag AF. I assume this works, but I always shoot with the screen facing in so I am not really sure.

If it doesn't work, touching the Trash button centers the focus point if it ever gets moved.

Disabling "touch and drag" will NOT solve the problem. Unfortunately, there is no menu option to JUST disable touch focusing (which is really dumb).

As another poster stated, you can turn the touch screen off, but then the camera is a pain to use as you want the touch screen for everything else.

I found the best solution was to hit the trash can button (almost by reflex).

Yeah, I use trash can button but is is a pain in the neck when shooting fast action. I am glad to hear I am not the only one who finds it annoying.

Hi! maybe this will help. I use an R7 and had a similar problem since day one, my nose touching the tactile screen and changing the AF point. I fixed it 1-hitting INFO a few times until the tactile screend display shows you camera info not where you are pointing the camera at. 2-Another way without hitting INFO s to configure TOUCH and DRAG to the lower bottom or the right of the camera so when your nose hit the tactile screen it doesnt change AF point (I have both, the INFO and the TOUCH and DRAG adjusted). At least in the R7 the TOUCH and DRAG can be configured to be -relative- (so it doesnt affect the whole display) play with both the TOUCH and DRAG region and absolute/relative until you find the best position for you so your nose doesnt change the AF. Hope that helps.

Thanks for R7 info, I am currently shooting screen closed but will try the touch region setting as my nose likes to move it to top left

I got confused when asking the question. Basically disabling "Touch & Drag AF" does exactly what I wanted, at least on R5 (don't have RP handy but probably the same).

Then when EVF is active your face touching the screen will not affect anything.

When screen is active you will still be able to touch the screen to focus on specific point.

If you need to switch Touch & drag AF on and off often you can add that to your custom menu.
