Hello Everyone:

I recently bought new a 128GB SanDisk Card for a Leica D-Lux Camera (D-Lux 4) and a Sony Alpha 6000.

I'm getting an error message on the Leica that says, "Memory Card Error - Parameter Error."

When in the camera, the error won't let me get to the controls to re-format in the camera.

When I plug the SD card into the slot in my MacBPro, It will format the card but then the card still will not work.

Please tell me what I'm doing wrong? Many thanks!

Rich

The Sony a6000 accepts cards up to 64 GB in size, while the D-Lux 4 only goes up to 32 GB.

Do you have the manuals for your cameras. It may be that the 128gb card is larger than the cameras can recognize. That's larger than is typically needed in camera anyway.

Yeah, 128 GB is too much for either camera.

What you can do is stick the 128 GB card into the A6000 and format it. The camera will format it to 64 GB (just tried it with my A6000). The rest of the GB won't be accessible and is kinda wasted.

I don't think the SDXC cards will work in the old D-lux 4 or Panasonic LX7. I think they're limited to SDHC.

I'm guessing but the Leica may be too old to format such a high capacity card. A D-Lux 4 is somewhere around 2008/9. There's a tiny chance the Leica will not be able to read all 128gb. I could be wrong.

Be careful formatting it in a Mac (or even Windows). It's easy to get it wrong. Instead use this utility: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/

Try that and see how it goes.
