Hi everyone,

I genuinely love the results of Silkypix Developer. But, unlike LR or DXO or C1, Tutorials for Silkypix DS PRO 10 Tutorials are rare. At least in english.

Even though they are in the business for a long time and they work with or support every Japanese camera manufacturers.

Even New Luminar has more Tutorials than SP. Is this because SP has very low user base outside Japan? Why is that?

If anyone who could assist me find some good elaborate Tutorials on Silkypix Developer Studio Pro 10, that would be kind of you.

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Sourov.

Hi Sourov, sich tutorials do interest me as well. If you already have found any, could please provide so that others can benefit?

Thanks, Birdie

Silkypix Developer Studio Pro is a very underrated raw converter. Unfortunately, Ichikawa Soft Laboratory don't make much effort to promote/support their products in USA/Europe.

Maybe you could start a thread asking for tips on using the software and posting your views on what is good about the software and its capabilities?

Just providing some translations between Silkypix speak and mainstream editors would help :-)

Hi Birdie,

In google and YouTube I have done a crazy search. Specially if there was anything new for last 2 years and if they are in english.

There are 2 good results :
Which is essentially a guy who explained in details why he is using Silkypix DS PRO 10 over Lightroom, Capture One, and DXO Photolab 4. Which very well explained. And it looks like a review/ brief Tutorials. Not bad.
Which is a playlist of basic to semi advance Tutorials of Silkypix Developer Studio by the same person who wrote the blog above. Very helpful though.
A facebook group that has only 5 members. By the same guy.

So, it makes me wonder. Why there aren't other folks as active as LR or DXO community in internet.

Anyway , hope my links helps folks.

Good day.

I agree. I even translated my same question in one sentence in french, korean, italian, german and Hindi. Surprisingly, there are user bases in different countries and different languages. It's just they are not Together. As you said, they need to work on marketing. I guess they not bothering for 2 reasons.
  • They have a very strong user base in home Japan
  • They are heavily backed by almost all the Japanese camera manufacturers. Notably Fuji, Panasonic, Ricoh, Olympus and Nikon
  • They strongly believe that quality speak for itself. So does the words of mouths. I mean, that is old school.

And also, believe me or not, this my first time ever in DP Review or any forums like this (welcome to 2020, lol). I am still catching up on rules and boundaries. Although, my findings above are not bad to be honest. May be I could request DPreview to open a separate forum for Silkypix? Hmm...

As an example, here is a thread I started for DXO Photolab when I was trying to learn about DXO.

Hi everyone,

Just reporting back with my search,

I have found a pretty decent Article of comparing Image Sharpening and Noise Reduction Capabilities of

Silkypix Developer Studio Pro 10 vs DXO Photolab 4 vs Canon DPP 4.

I was using Silkypix in 2005 and considered it superior to ACR plug-in at the time.

Sikypix is a Japanese company and the extensive user manual read like it was translated by a national of Japan into English quite a challenge to follow. I always thought they had a very special relationship with the Japanese Camera manufacturers. Aulways haud unique features.

Saw a few Youtube tutorials by Mark Rouleau.

I have seen them. The most recent ones are done by Treasure Hunters. Although Mark's videos are not bad either.

My disappointment is that, there are plenty of different versions of similar Tutorials for some Even okay editing software where not many for Silkypix.

I understand that for example, skylum or Adobe has enough money to invest in marketing by paying the 'youtube' Professors or via affiliated programs.

Shame that without getting paid, almost no one willing to create many contents on Silkypix.

Which is weird because if you look at the Linux community, it's a different story. Passion comes first there

I agree. I really liked the results and used it exclusively many years ago. I also had Bibble Pro at that time. That is a long time ago.

Simply go to the website of ISL

The problem is it seems that their manuals are only available online and are not available in PDF ( or other format ) to be downloaded.

Sounds like you pretty much have found the same ones I have seen. I purchased Silky Pix Pro 11 after previewing it this past spring. I purchased before it went off sale price. I have been using it regularly for processing my images. After processing I load them up in ACDSEE for cataloging or tweaking. For me. this is an ideal combo. There is a Flickr group too but it is not very active.
