Dear Olympusers (?),

After a quick browsing of the different pictures posted here and there, some of you seem to obtain very decent results with underwater photography using TG-x cameras (namely TG-4, TG-5 or TG-6).

I wondered which camera settings (aperture, exposure time, ISO, WB, flash/no flash, etc...) could be optimal for such a type of photography AND using such a type of camera.

So far, I've only be using Aperture priority with a fast aperture (namely f2.0) leaving the rest to the camera. Thus your input - ideally with some attached pictures - is very welcome.

Regards,

MG

Maybe you can start with looking at the EXIF info on the photos who are shown here on DPR.

Look in the Olympus compact forum and in the underwater forum.

In the latter you better search for "Olympus TG"

As a TG5 (formerly TG4) user, for me I either use P or A mode. For snorkelling on sunny days with good light in the water, ISO will either be 100 to 400. White balance will be Auto or underwater if a cloudy day. ISO is used to keep shutter speed at least 1/400 sec to freeze action of fish swimming. Quality is quite good under sunny conditions.

Dear embie,

I can indeed do that. I've actually done that.

I was starting a thread in order to get a more detailed (and subtle...) discussion from/with users rather than just looking at numbers.

Thanks for your feedback.

I'll keep in mind the white balance seetings depending on the weather, as well as the 1/400s shutter speed.
