I connected the Z thru htmi connection to a ninja-V external recorder using N-log. 2 nights ago, I had a small concert recording that I need to place the camera very close to the stage straight ahead but I should not be standing there controling the camera, so I thought about using the snapbridge to remote start, stop and touch focus. Tested everything works fine but as soon as I use the "remote photography" in snapbridge it gives me error.

I have 2 questions here.

1) has anyone successfully doing this, share your settings please.

2) if nobody has successfully done this, where can I report to Nikon? I hope this will work because I have many occasions using remote video that need high quality N log video. P.S. I am a NPS member but I cannot find "product suggestions" on their webpage.

Read p. 348 of the reference manual. It says you cannot record externally via the HDMI and use Snapbridge.

oh bummer... hopefully new firmware can address this.

This may or may not work. I haven't tried it with an external recorder so can't say for sure, but the Pro version does allow a much higher degree of control over the camera when shooting video than the Snapbridge app:

The developer is pretty responsive - you may want to message him with your questions.
