Folks,

is it possible to tell what the size is going to be? Really hope it will be a bit larger and more premium/robust than R. R is just not comfortable, especially with 85/50 1.2 lenses.

Based on the released photos with the current 24-105 RF L mounted, it looks really close to the current R. We'll see, but it doesn't look any bigger.

it seems very slightly wider to me

I hope it stays smaller. Buy the 5D4 or the 5D S/R if you want a bigger body. I personally feel the 50 f/1.2 feels fine with two hands on the R and the 35 f/1.8 feels like a one hander to me.

The whole point of mirrorless is the size and weight right? The R with L lenses feels more natural than my older 5D3 ever did. But that may just be me.

I think the ""smaller size of a mirrorless" camera was more of a marketing sales point. I don't see why a mirrorless camera must be small. An FF mirrorless camera shold, IMO, accomodates the user needs, design and ergonomically wise. I have small hands so current size works for me and I hope they will keep that and the Battery grip will fit the new camera so I will not have to sell it!

Look through some previous threads, one person had a comparison between the R and R5.

Main difference is the bulge at the top is larger on the R5. It was slightly larger overall, I think mostly taller

Greg.

Please, Canon, make it a decent size, something that people with normal-size hands can hold comfortably. No more awkward, tiny toy cameras like the R.

Canon is perfectly capable of making a small DSLR, but they deliberately don't (except for the ultra-cheap models at the bottom of the range). There is a reason all the serious Canon cameras - 7D 5D, 6D, etc., etc., are a decent size. Why? Because that is what fits in the hand best, especially with serious lenses. Because that is what most photographers like.

what size? Have you seen lenses? Heavier, bigger....R looks and feels like a toy. Tiny buttons, no grip. I am interested how R5 will look because I am sure pros are giving feedback

It’s as though the mirror box is still there...

Different strokes, I guess. The R feels nice in my hands and the grip is just about right. I've shot with lenses ranging from 15mm to a 150-600 zoom and it's a nice handling camera.

That's pretty cool. Fraction taller and a little bit wider, to use the technical terms!

they must have tested it with a pretty wide user base among their target audience. Time will tell. Mu hands are not at all large, I cannot use bigger iPhones, but the current R is too small. I cannot place all my fingers on the grip and my hand is not big.

I think it'll be thicker as well, to house the IBIS assembly. Every camera to date has had an increase in thickness and weight with IBIS, from 50g to 150g.
