I just bought the Canon RP, but it’d be good to know the maximum shutter life span before it dies. Been searching but didn’t get the answer.

Anyone here knows about it?

thanks.

Have not been able to get this info from Canon.. Where did you find this?

Thanks.

There's actually no such thing. Rated shutter lives are based on mean time to failure, which is, as the name implies, an average, not a guarantee, and certainly not a maximum.

That said, no, not seen a rating for the shutter. I'm not totally surprised, as it has an electronic first curtain, so is at least to some extent likely to be a new unit.

I've already got about 35,000 shots on mine. I imagine the shutter life will be quite good.

I have 149,995 shots on mine ;-) By the end of the month I should be real close to having 150,000 shots on it.

The shutter is good for 2 million or so shots unless you bought it from Amazon or B&H which are good for 20-100 shots.

You guys sound lots of time lapse or crazy macro stacking?

From the number of files on my computer. The actual number is a bit higher as some have been deleted.

Yea, that is why I laugh when people try to tell me that my observations are wrong due to lack of experience. But hey it's the Internet, what else would you expect.

Actually I wouldn't be surprised by 2 million. My 7d mk2 crapped out near that number and it was the mirror box that was what failed not the shutter.
