It's not often one gets to see a whole flock of the elusive electric wire so you were quick too catch them Elliott. Well done. ;-)

Funny man.
It was not a criticism - just a jokey comment. I knew you were capturing the fire-in-the-trees effect of the setting sun.Ed,It's not often one gets to see a whole flock of the elusive electric wire so you were quick too catch them Elliott. Well done. ;-)
Not to take this too serious, but to keep learning the camera:
I simply wanted to quickly capture the light before it disappeared. Then, I decided to use it as a series of 24,70,200,280 SZ zoom views. T he only idea of composition was the last shot, after the Zoom series was done.
Camera setup was not modified for the situation, I just stepped out of the car and shot with the last settings used for Cooper's Ice Hockey game.
Optical shots were Expand Spot, centered, aimed at the center of each view, in the mess of trees, not always the house facade which would have been easier for the AF system. Metering was Spot (Large Spot option) for ice rink lighting, also centered. S mode, 1/200th for hockey. Slower would have gotten lower ISO. I had to quickly change from Continuous to single shot. It remained in AF-C.
Here, the 1.4x 280 SZ 10mp, defaulting to Multi-Area size, shooting at such an array of various depths, I wanted to see how it dealt with it, what it might do regarding focus distance.
Using Smart Telecon (CIZ OFF), C button, single press toggled to SZ 1.4x, (automatically changing to 10mp required for SZ 280) shoot. Quick press to 2.0x 400 SZ 5mp, don't shoot, quick press, back to OZ, again, Image size automatically returned to 20mp. This was nearly effortless, and the setup for quick 1.4x if action at the far goal.
Using spot, large, the difference of metering results of the 280 SZ is obvious.
I was fully aware of the wires, but, the light .....! I hate all the above ground wires here in USA, and normally would have moved forward to shoot with no wires in view. The wires on that side of the street in this situation would not have disappeared if I moved forward anyway. I will be posting some shots from the other day in your Old House challenge where I did move forward successfully.
I found it surprising how little the wires were disruptive compared to photos they ruin or I wouldn't even take. They give some answers to the focus depth in this situation, these settings.
Oh yeah, the m6 Jpeg results using those ISO numbers are surprising, so shooting at 1/200th illustrated that.
Same here - just having a Laugh - though I did have a good look for a bird of prey in those branchesIt was not a criticism - just a jokey comment. I knew you were capturing the fire-in-the-trees effect of the setting sun.
I have not seen that, these OZ photos used expanded spot, centered, and the lack of a specific subject, and, I cropped some, so we have lost the true center that the AF tried to use? Also a great deal of depth variations except the house which was not the center. Also the twigs near the right edge are visibly softer than at the left in the `200mm OZ end of m6'. Decentering? Is this typical of m6?

This kind of situation, if a true test group, I normally would have tried to pick the peak of the house, or a specific main branch, using Manual Focus, then they could be more properly compared, and, the multi large area AF default of SZ would not be a contributing/confusing factor.
This really was to catch the color, then I did the zoom shots, not a very good subject for OZ or SZ, another reason to learn MF on these.
Donna went in via the garage, so it was wide open sucking cold air in while I was doing this, it wasn't planned. Now, just 2 days ago, it was 76 F here, I had the top down that evening, 1st time since winter began.
I just started thisThe twigs on the left and on the right look at about the same distance. Thus it is unlikely that ones are more out of focus than the other. However if your cropping was not left-right symmetric then it could be due to general edge softness, rather than due to decentering.
