I'm looking for options to remotely release the shutter on my 80d. For many years I have used a yongnuo 602 on my 7d but the 80d does not have the same input for a shutter release. I do not want wired or IR. I need something easily hidden in my hand and able to be used a distance away. I take a lot of environmental self portraits where I am at least 50' from the camera. Thanks

This will work with the 80D. I haven't used this specific item, but I have other Vello products and have had no issues.

The Canon connect app will work.

80D has built-in wifi connection and with the app provided on Android and iOS, you can remotely control settings and trigger shutter.

Yes, and very useful it is too when it works. Whether it will work from 50 feet away as per the OP's post is another matter - I haven't tried it so I won't guess at the results !

Just an idea, could you use another phone in the mid range as wifi hot spot?

This Pixel wireless remote is only about $20 and works just fine.

Unlike some other brands, it uses AAA batteries instead of some other hard to find batteries.

Thanks Sailor Blue! The cable arrived and works like a charm. While the Canon app is great and some of the other triggers have their purpose, I already had the trigger which is small enough to conceal in my hand with the 602 and with the proper cable, it works for simple firing of the shutter, exactly what I was asking for.
