Hi

I want to bring a Fuji X-T2 and Canon 5D out in my next trip. My research for a duel camera carrying system turned out to be frustrating.

This article listed several single / double sling straps on market, some are already out of current market.

1) Blackrapids series: not a fan. because I cannot find for their D-ring a tripod mounting plate that allows for instant tripod mouting. The Custom SLR M-Plate Pro Tripod Plate seems to be the solution, but for whatever reason it's no longer on the market.

2) Custom SLR dual camera strap: same problem. my tripod is not Arca-swiss compatible, so there would be spacing problem if I use their M-PLATE SLIM TRIPOD PLATE

3) carry speed double pro . I like its thoughtful design. Unfortunately, the dual camera set up is no longer available on their website. I wonder if I could buy two Single Strap and wear both, one for each camera?

Just a thought: are you able to change the clamp on your tripod head to an arca compatible one? If you've just got a typical ball head it's likely that you can, which would hopefully put the more commonly available carrying options back on the table?

I brought the tripod on a Seattle trip in August, very satisfied with it.

but it is not Arca-Swiss compatible. are you saying to replace the detachable piece (currently mounted on camera bottom) to an arca-compatible?

problem with Custom SLR products is lacking of video introduction. I cannot figure out how the camera mounts on tripod without first detaching the C-loop from the mounting plate. they also lack a a stabilization strap and a safety strap (as carry speed FS-Pro does). just not so thoughtful as Carry speed is.

No - I'm talking about the actual quick release clamp that sits on the very top of the tripod head.

Take a look at the image at this URL: https://bit.ly/2PsKE4M

That shows an RRS quick release clamp mounted to the top of one of their ball heads. The important point is that right in the center you can see a silver bolt. Unscrew that bolt and you can swap the clamp for various others made by a range of different manufacturers. Most ball heads are like this. If your clamp is likewise secured by a central bolt, I bet you could swap your existing clamp for an arca-compatible one.

my tripod does not provide an option to swap the clamp. some Arca-swiss clamp plus plate cost twice the value of my tripod. I'm already happy with the Dolica tripod for now, there is really no need for me to upgrade.

even with Arca-swiss compatible tripod, I cannot see how the Custom SLR double strap can mounts on the tripod without first detaching the C-loop.

I probably will buy two Carry speed FS pro. Has anyone done this before?

There are D-ring plates for both arca-swiss and Manfrotto RC2.

This is a plate for arca-swiss; there's also a 70mm size.

This one will work with Manfrotto.

What I've done is picked up a SpiderPro holster; I use the sling to have one camera on the left, the other is on the holster on the right.

what sling do you use?

SpiderPro looks good. is there a safey strap (say, wrist strap)? ppl can easily detach the camera

its fine with one mirrorless plus 3 lens. but adding a dslr its too heavy on one shoulder, needs to be spread to shoulds / waists.

I use a BlackRapid sling. With larger or heavier lenses like a 70-200 or 100-400, I attach the attachment lug to the lens tripod collar.

There's a lock on the release, so it's a 2-step process to release it if you wish.

I've tried the double-hanging setup for a while and thought it was the most uncomfortable thing ever. For sport photography I constantly need to move around the field, stand up, sit down, move to a side, bend a bit etc etc, and having the double strap was an absolute pita.

I now keep a camera on my shoulders using a strap and the other one in a Lowepro Toploader that has very quick access to it. I keep the bag on my waist while moving around and if I need to stay in a spot for a while I place it on the ground. This also has the advantage of allowing me to put a few small accessories in the toploader, so if I'm far from my table and need to change card/battery or wipe the lens, I have everything with me.

I've hiked with Cotton Carriers on both straps of my backpack. It looks kind of ridiculous though.

did u buy the m plate pro early? its no longer sold on their website.

Yes, I bought it 3 or 4 years ago. I really like it.

Interesting, take a look at this: https://www.amazon.com/FOTGA-Alumin...F8&qid=1544562803&sr=8-1&keywords=m-plate+pro

Looks like the same thing, just much cheaper. It says it's a Manfrotto plate, but my M-Plate Pro is both Arca-swiss and Manfrotto compatible and these two plates look identical.

Edit: I just checked the description and is says it works with both arca-swiss and manfrotto.

it's great piece at reasonable price. it was listed 69$ at the adorama.

does the lug become loose. i remeber the Dolica tripod mounting plate sometimes loosen by itself so i need to retighten the plate. do you also use a safety strap to tether it to arm or wrist or waist belt? i can probably use the camera's neck strap with a carabiner for safety.

First, scrap the idea that you have to use Black Rapids screw in D-ring.

You can find L-Brackets and standard plates that have a spot to attach a strap/cord. Simply attach a cord and a key split ring.

I've got a video that explains how I do it.

I have never found it loose in all the years I've had it.

I comes along and I have her carry one (although at times that can be a rather expensive solution...as in dinner, etc!!😁)
