Any Suggestion before I ship the camera to Canon?

My 7D took a unsuspected water wave while in a boat yesterday along with 24-70 L. The wave rolled over the camera giving it a quick soak. The camera functions fine, but the screen does not illuminate. Behind the lens and battery (grip) were dry. I do get a quick screen flash now and then.

Anyone experience the this issue? I know the camera is weather proof...NOT water proof! I knew the risk before hand so what I don't need is a lecture. Any suggestions to restore function?

Thanks in Advance

There are lots of threads on how to deal with wet cameras. In short, take the battery out immediately. Don't try to turn the camera on. Put the camera in a closed container with some sort of desiccant. You can buy commercial beads or just use white rice. Don't let the rice or rice dust get into the open camera. Leave it there for an extended period of time, changing the rice periodically. Pray.

Good luck. Salt water is really bad for cameras.

I have a friend when trying to shoot moving water at a local beach she walked away from the tripod and disaster the canon 5DR S +16-35 LENS all went for a swim that is about $8000 down the drain so do not feel to bad, a few years ago my D300 went over into the mud as soon as i got home i put it in a rice beed then sent it of to Nikon it still working now best of luck

Well, within hours of getting the advice above on Tuesday, I placed the 7D m2 in a zip lock bag with several small packages of silica. After 3 days in the bag the camera turned on with a fully functioning LCD screen.

Thanks for the advice.

Glad to hear the camera is fine. That thing is build like a tank, it would take more than a drop in the water to break it. I've had my 7d2 since it came out and I dropped my camera into mud, sand and salt water many times. I even have some remnants of mustard on my camera which I can't fully remove. The controls are all messed up but the camera itself is still going strong and I've taken 500K + photos with the camera.
