I'll take photos using my Canon dslrs then load the images into my windows laptop.

What is a good way to get the photos on my laptop to an android phone (without cable).

Right now I do it by emailing the photo from laptop to my android phone. Then put the photo into my gallery. Then attach the photo to a message and send it to another phone. But it's a long process. Must be a better way.

Also, when resizing a photo to be viewed on a phone or tablet, what's a good size to use?

Thanks.

HI, I use an app called Onesync, here's how I do it, I have OneDrive on my phone and on my PC, then in OneSync I select the folder on my PC (one with the photos in) and then create/select folder on my phone, then select sync type (one way, upload or download) in your case download and save, so anytime you add a photo or photos to your PC Photo folder it'll upload to OneDrive and then send copies to the folder on your phone (automatically in the background) you can also select mirror in the OneSync sync option which means that whatever you delete or add on the PC gets reflected on the phone.

if you don't want to a syncing option then the app sendanywhere works well, install it on PC (small programme) and install app on phone and then you can merrily send from the PC to the phone using the easy user interface of sendanywhere, easy.

"Right now I do it by emailing the photo" - emailing any information is an insecure method. Think of emails as postcards - basically everyone who transports your photo can see it and make a copy of it.

Do you use gmail? uploading your files to your own google photos account would keep it private.

Photosync app, phototransfer app, sendanywhere app on each device....Many apps to do this kind of xfr. Also, with the right app on Android device you should be able to use built in WebDAV, SMB, FTP or some other protocol from within Windows. IDK for sure as I don’t use Windows.

Microsoft have upped their game for android phones considerably. I have just moved from a Nokia 830 (Windows mobile) to a Huawei P10 (Android 7) and the MS apps work better on android than they did on the Nokia. Still using office 365, contacts and calendar and its seamless.

No non-MS add ins needed now.

Get the MS onedrive app on your android phone, you can access all onedrive files AND tell it which folders you want to synchronise so you end up with a local copy on the phone for when you are away from data link.

Upload photos from pc to one drive, put them in the folder you have chosen to sync, all done. I set the onedrive on the phone to sync on wifi but not mobile data so I don't use loads.

I run a desktop, a lightweight laptop and an android phone, in onedrive I have a folder cunningly named 'sync to desktop laptop and phone' and set that to have local copies on all 3. Handy for things like expenses spreadsheet, travel bookings and photos I want to see on all of them.

I'm on a Mac so it could be a little different. I just select the photo, whether it is on the phone or on the computer, and then use the Bluetooth menu to "Send File to Device" (on the computer) or use the Share option in Android Gallery (on my Note 5) and choose "Transfer Files to Device". It is really quick and always sends a full size image without the phone needing to be on WiFi or using cell data. We have a firewall that blocks a lot of things on our personal devices so its helpful to not have to use my cell data to send over a few photos from the phone to computer.

Why don’t you just use a cable? It’s the best way,to do it by far.

Sorry dont agree, do you know how awesome it is to have taken shots with the S8 somewhere (restaurant, vacation, day trip etc.) and when you get home all the photos you took are already on your PC. Done without you doing anything at the time, automatically. I set up Onedrive and then got the app called OneSync, then set it to upload my DCIM/Camera from phone to my S8 folder on Onedrive automatically, and it does so in the background, works very well.

Except the photos are on the PC from the DSLR, and OP needs them to be copied to the phone, what you described is the opposite of what is being asked.

true but you can set Onesync to sync both ways or either, it can sync all photos in a folder on the PC to the phone just as easy, it has 6 odd sync options, so one is spoilt for choice.

I use the free desktop & Android app called MyPhoneExplorer. Great app to transfer anything via WiFi, cable or Bluetooth (which is the slowest by far). It has several components but a file manager/ tree is one, drag from the app to an open folder pane or desktop etc. Tip: have both panes visible for drag & drop.

Also can sync contacts, calendars, text messages, emails & to GMail too.

But for a lot of large images USB cable is fastest & no extra apps are needed. Bluetooth is way too slow IME for large files.

I save the step of putting photos directly onto my phone by uploading them to Google Photos. With the photos app on the phone I'm able to grab them any time I want.

Benefit is that I don't gobble up the space on my phone by saving them directly to the phone.

With Google Photos, if you have a google phone (Pixel) you get unlimited space, which, in my opinion, is what sold me on the Pixel I use.

One way to transfer files back and forth is to install a VNC app like Ultra VNC http://www.uvnc.com/ on the PC and a corresponding VNC viewer like akRDC (there are free and pro versions) on the Android device. In addition to file transfer you can also see the PCs screen and control the PC from Android.

You can transfer via USB, connect the Android to PC via a USB cable. After plugging in, select "USB Mass Storage" . To transfer files from the pc, move the pictures to the camera files. This works for who have SD card. If you store photos in phone momery, you will need app to help you, hope this helpful: how to send photos from pc to android phone
