Kai had his $4500 Sony A9 cut out with overheating after 5min ..or 9min i did not catch it

so if Sony cannot reliably implement 4K in a FF pro spect, pro priced camera that i imagine has a magally body ....whats the chance that canon CANNOT implement 4K in a plastic entry level camera with any sort of reliability ?

in case it was a one off i googled it and it seams not .....more worrying for sony 1 guy had the overheating warning after 45min of STILLS shooting ...no video further down the thread someone got the warning after 10 min kept shooting and it switched of (again shoting stills) here

Kai W vid

so is everyone being a bit hard on Canon for no 4K ?

There is no argument for FF vs APS-c (or m43) with shallow DOF..as it's a law of physics and a very subjective personal thing if you want to make use of the shallow DOF only FF can offer

You are joking ....i have a sony nex ...i think the designers was an anti photographer sadist ...the only way to make it more less enjoyable to use would be to superglue a drawing pin to the shutter button...pin up

What difference does it make why it's not there? It's not...get over it. If that's a deal-breaker for you, don't buy the camera. A billion posts complaining about the camera's lack of 4K is not going to add it. Move on people.

Then why is 4k in the Nikon D500, Fuji X-T2, a6500, A7RII, A7SII with little to no issues. 4k is not a deal breaker for me, it's a nice of have but not a necessity. However, there is literally no feasible reason whatsoever to justify why 4k isn't in this camera. The D750's successor will come out and it will have 4k, the D820 will have 4k, the A7III, A7RIII, A7SIII will come out and it will have 4k. There is no excuse besides greed to explain why the 6D Mark II doesn't have 4k.

I won't bring this up again because I know there has been toxic comments involving this topic, I don't want to be negative at any point after this.

its not an problem for me ...i have continually say no other FF camera released at £$2000 has ever had 4K ...so why the bitching at canon when they don't ....i was asking a question in my OP

Then why is 4k in the Nikon D500, Fuji X-T2, a6500,
they are not FF ...the xt-2 by design will only do 10 min of 4K without the grip...obversely fuji are taking steps to avoid the problem, so heat is a design concern for this metal bodied camera ......the A 6500 is a joke. (to me..its probably a nice camera)..for a good analogy sony replaced the fuse with a nail ....the 500D is not FF don't seem to have any problems but compared to the others its big.... and has Magnesium Alloy Chassis
A7RII, A7SII with little to no issues.
the "little" tells me their are reported problems .... are FF but they are not £$2000 cameras

aprently rhe A7sii is better than the A7rii
4k is not a deal breaker for me, it's a nice of have but not a necessity.
same same

yes but is there a physical reason that we have no 4K in the 6Dii

this is what i am asking as it seem with more expensive FF cameras the designers are battling against heat ..so is it impossible to have 100% reliable camera with 4K in a plastic entry level FF camera ?
The D750's successor will come out and it will have 4k, the D820 will have 4k, the A7III, A7RIII, A7SIII will come out and it will have 4k.
yes but how many will be released under £$2000

Jack, I don't know if you realize this but you sound like a bully. Shame on you! This is a camera discussion forum, not a school yard.

That suggests the problem is not caused by 4K video as such, but by some sort of fault.

It also suggests that Sony has a different approach to reliability than Canon.

A few years ago one of my Canon DSLR bodies had a well-documented design fault which caused it to overheat (or to be strictly accurate, for the warning message to appear) if live view was left on for extended periods. It was eventually fixed by a firmware upgrade - I can't help wondering if they just bumped up the temperature at which the message was triggered, but I can't say for sure.

emmm well yes apart from the 5dmki mirror flying off (that canon fixed free for 10 years!!!!!! mine got fixed 2 day befor the cut off date ) and the D1mkiii AF problem and some oil on the sensor of early 1Dx i cannot think of a major problems with canon DSLRs ever ....some one going to correct me now...that's fine...but nothing like the overheating that's inflicted every sony 4k MILC to varying extent

Apparently, this is what Sony did with the A9 "fix". On the other hand, LV was not designed to be used for extended periods of time while video is.

This is par for the course... They have NEVER been a company to be on the edge of features, but they ALWAYS produce great photographic instruments with little to no issues. While overheating may have been a concern, I think it has more to do with their protectionist mentality. You can't sell a camera for $1.5k - $2k that can do just about everything your $3.5k camera does. IMHO, I think the model lines have become too blurred.

It's recommended to use a mains adapter which is what I always do for remote capture unless it's just the odd shot or two.

stills overheating and 4K video are unrelated issues from a Canon perspective. It'd be like doing live view. Not 4K video related to their overheating
