Just got my G7xII and for the life of me i cannot get it to find my home wifi network so i can dump the images onto a computer.

My wifi network is extremely strong and i'm using a new Airport Extreme.

The camera connects to my iPhone and iPad perfectly fine via Wifi, but can't get it on my home network's wifi because it searches and searches and doesn't find the network.

So your camera can connect to your iOS devices through its own wifi network but not through your home network ?

Did you download the software to your computer as defined in the manual?

http://downloads.canon.com/wireless...ages-from-a-camera-to-a-computer-via-WiFi.pdf
What exactly is the software called?
The link you just sent is incorrect because it states to installed "CameraWindow", but that is an iOS app, it's not for desktop use.

I've installed Canon Digital Photo Professional 4, but that doesn't seem to do it.
Canon Digital Photo Professional 4.4.30 is what is listed for our camera. Go to Canon Support, Software. Maybe you are using an older version?

To be honest, I link to an iPhone or iPad and that puts the pictures in iCloud where everything can get access.

I hope you can figure it out. It is a little convoluted.

FYI

I could not get it to work with my 2015 Macbook, Airport Time Capsule WiFi.

I've tried everything and cannot get it to work.

The only way i can get the images onto my computer is taking out the SD card and plugging it into the computer.

Also, when i transfer an image from the camera to my iPhone it transfers a compressed version, how do i get it to transfer the original file?

You need to install: "Digital Camera Software 7.2 [Windows]" which includes camerawindowdc.

For transferring full sized images, connect your phone to the camera using the camera connect app, press "images on camera", then press the menu icon on the top right, then settings, then press resize and select "don't resize"

But in all seriousness, put just a tad more effort and try to read the manual next time. Page 147 goes step by step for pc, page 161 for resizing images for sending on phone.

If all you're doing is dumping the images onto your pc, use the reader or connect with the cable. It will be far faster, reliable, and will not wear down the batteries as fast (or not at all with a reader). Otherwise you're just making it harder on yourself.

Agreed, it's just faster and more efficient to take out the card n transfer it over. You already have a copy on your phone, you'd then back up to the PC after each shoot? once a week at most?

That software you quoted is for Windows. I'm on a Mac. And the Mac version is totally different.

Also, to all of you saying "just take the SC card out and plug it into the computer".. what you're saying is a brand new $700 camera comes with a major feature that does not work and everybody is ok with it? I literally cannot get the camera to transfer photos wirelessly to ANY Mac computer (i've tried a Macbook Pro, iMac, and Macbook Air).

Completely. You're choosing a slower less efficient path. Not sure why anyone would go that way. WiFi transfer makes sense if you're out in the field and only have a smartphone with you and want to share a photo or two right away. Not so much when you're dumping the entire contents of a card to your home system.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

As far as I remember it I had to put my G7Xii very close (1-2 m) to my Wifi hotspot no matter how "strong" I thought the signal was elsewhere.

I don't know whether G7x m2 supports the 5GHz band or not but that could be the issue if your wifi is only transmitting on the 5GHz band and not on the 2.4GHz as well.

Copying several GB of data over a wireless connection at home instead of just inserting the SD card into the computer is just making things needlessly slower and more complicated.

Exactly! Seems the OP is more interested in doing something just b/c it should be available, regardless of making the task more difficult.

And then sometimes you take 2-3 shots and you just want to transfer them quickly without the hassle of taking the card out, inserting it in the reader, plugging reader in..., then taking it out of reader, putting it back in camera....

If a camera is supposed to do something, it should. It is up to the individual user to decide how he wants to do it. Telling him to do it manually does not answer his question about why isn't wifi working. He knows it can be done manually.

Yes, of course and that would make sense if that's what the OP was complaining about. However all the OP was wanting to do was dump the entire contents of the SD card to a home pc.

I suspect it might actually work better with a smartphone or tablet.

I bought also same camera.

And also, i have few macs, iphones, AirPort Extreme, ipads...

Everything works except ! connect to WebServices.

Actually, first time i connected, i could connect to Webservices, but i could'nt upload anything.

Then i reisntalled and reregister everything, and since then i can not connect to my home network, either on AirPort either on router. I also saw, that signal mark is extremly low, except when i'm really near to AirPort. But then also wont connect.

Otherwise, connect WiFi to MacBook Pro, or to iPhone works well.

Really i can not understand, why do i actually don't have internet access on a camera.

So, @keyed if you have some news, please let me know.

Thnx,

Alex
