I have had my D750 for about 6 months. Recently, it gives me an Err upon first photo after a wake-up. Pressing the shutter button again seems to clear it and the camera is fine thereafter. Thing is, I've begun to miss shots because the first shot after a wake-up coincides with something interesting happening.

Have found this issue in the forums but no real solution. Checked the serial number against product recalls but get 'Your camera is unaffected'.

Next steps?

Firmware 1.10 BTW - the one it shipped with.

This is the exact same fault I had with my D750. The camera was repaired under warranty - shutter replacement required. I expect you will also need to return yours.

Regards.,

Is your firmware up to date?

My D750 did the same thing and it is two months out of warranty (USA). It is currently with Nikon repair for $263 and I am awaiting its return. I complained to Nikon when I sent in the repair that I have read of many others having the same problem but they will not cover it and I must pay. If your's is still under warranty send it in right away.

Yeah, same thing happened to me, except my shutter had already been replaced under the first service advisory. Had less that 4000 shots on the 2nd shutter before it started acting up, but it was a couple months past the 6-month repair warranty and was not on the later advisory. Cost me $274 to have it fixed.

On it's return I had to clean a smudge off the sensor, blow a dust bunny off the focusing screen, and replace the eye cup they lost. All seems well now but I'm not happy with Nikon at the moment.

Mine also happens on the first shot, or after a few hours of non-use. I checked the serial number about 2 weeks ago, or less, and it said the my camera model was not affected, but I checked again yesterday and it now says it is. You could check everyday to see if that serial number has been added to the list, and if it does get added, you could ask for your service fee money back.

BTW, I got the impression on returning mine for repair that this is definitely a known fault. It's nothing to do with firmware, lenses, SD cards etc. Its a problem with the shutter and is covered under warranty.

Hello

I was experiencing exactly the same issue. My serial number also showed the same thing (not affected) several montns ago.....I bought mine last Oct. I put in my serial again few weeks ago and, sure thing, this time it showed that my casmera is affected. I guess Nikon goes by the cameras as they are sent back for repairs and they keep on adding serial numbers.

For my camera it took one week total to send it in and get it back. works fine for now. I hope for no more issues.

My 750 was recalled for the shutter issue in July of 2015. I believe they issued another recall for more cameras in Feb. of 2016.

Some credit cards do extend your 1 year camera warranty for a second year. The problem is that you have to contact the credit card company's warranty service before you initiate the repair. I've done it before and I was pleased by this sort of free cardholder perk. YMMV.
