I think that the most interesting thing is to compare the D500 to the D7200 and ... there is no difference. The only difference I can see is the DR which is better at low ISO for the D7200 and better at high ISO for the D500 ... But then no difference.

I really dont understand why Nikon has build a new sensor for the D500, they should have used the D7200 sensor with the AF of hte D5.

I'm selling my A77ii for the D500 - IQ is fine but i want the best possible AF system for what I shoot, and slightly better ISO, and significantly better DR at higher iso is a pleasant bonus

Let us know what you think when you get your new cam.

The D500 is designed for high speed high ISO shooting which resulted in a drop of DR. It's a specialized camera.

Look at the picture, not the pixels
------------
Misuse of the ability to do 100% pixel peeping is the bane of digital photography.

I agree here! I've got both and the dynamic range should be about the same at higher iso's due to the sensor on both. Your talking about a 3mp difference in the A77II. Now you would probably get higher iso's from the D500. The focus system is great! And you can do a lot of lifting in the shadow areas.

Somewhere in their FAQ DXOlabs says that 25% ISO-points equal 1/3 of a stop. After all the advance praise the D500 got and advertising with 1+ million ISO I actually expected a better ISO performance.

I don't believe anything I hear in advertising. It's all lies.

Too bad that the DPREVIEW studio scene is worthless in comparing these cameras since the a77ii shots seem to be taken through a coke bottle instead of a quality lens!

I totally agree. I used mine to shoot for SXSW for three weeks this year in a lot of challenging situations and it did just fine. There were a lot of shots i was able to get because of the live view advantages that would have been difficult to do with an OVF camera.
