Tried out the SX50 again, yesterday and am getting more used to it.

Af can miss sometimes :)

I usually hop over a fence, then put camera lens inside the fence loop, to shoot the eagles.

(I am about 5 feet away from fence. Eagles are about another 30 to 50 feet away).

But didn't need to , as this next shot shows:

Higher iso settings prove better with this SX50, than my previous Panasonic FZ's

iso 800
iso 800

iso 1000
iso 1000

iso 2000
iso 2000

Even the I.S. is really good.

All these shots are handheld.

Here's one at 1/13 shutter speed.

At 1200mm telephoto !!

All above shots taken in superfine jpegs, set sharpness and contrast to -2. High NR set to low.

All edited few minutes using FastStone Image viewer.

Happy New Year, and many more healthy one's !

Your indisputable photographic skill apart (e.g. the water snake), you proved once more the high IQ of SX50 :) ! I was delighted by your images, congratulations and thank you for sharing!

Happy shooting,

Augustin

Thanks for the kind words, Augustin!

Cool link.

I noticed the more you zoomed in, the less visible the fence became.

Usually wide open aperture also can help diminish the fence....but with the SX50, we just have to use that telephoto reach.

Really nice shot of that bird, from your last years vacation.

Hi from the uk, I,m getting the sx50 tomorrow, I want it just for wildlife photography, your photo,s are stunning, could you give me a break down of which settings you used, Thankyou and well done, regards LIndon.

What a great series of shots! They are all outstanding. Where did you take them? I assume a zoo or wildlife sanctuary because of the wide variety. Very well done! Thank you for sharing these.

We are now into 2015 and the amazing SX50 was announced in September of 2012. I get the impression that it is as popular now as ever. Perhaps even more so. Images like these from ANAYV and others are testament to the reason why.

Thanks and congrats on your SX50.

I shot in jpeg, superfine, with sharpness and contrast set to -2, and High NR set to low.

@ANAVY

Nice pictures... some of them.

ISO 2000? Your edit was negligent: see the noise around the head of the snake and the large amount of blur used to mask the noise in the rest of the photo, in so-called background. Still... it's a limited small sensor. Even my old and poor SX150IS can produce nice pictures at high ISO... using tons of editing.

PS: sometimes the noise is less annoying than the blur.

one thing that really irks me is pixel-peeping.. show me better ..with the Exif attached.. who does this stuff.. if I had to view pics that way I'd bury the camera
