Hi.

My 5d mk3 sensor was burned by a sensor while shooting a (david guetta's) show...

I'm travelling to US next month, and I'm looking for a repair center to make the sensor replacement... any experience with this? I already wrote to canon repair center for a budget but I'm looking for other centers... any suggestion.

In Argentina the price to fix it (replace the sensor) is higher than the camera price...

thanks!
Diego

Can't help you, since I am not located in the US. But I am really sorry to hear about your misfortune. What a thing...

To make a recommendation it would be helpful to know:

Where are you going in the US? How long will you be there?

Sorry to hear that Che.

Good luck

Eduardo

Sorry about that. Do you have insurance?

Just to be clear, you were shooting the show and laser beams hit the sensor and fried it?

I wonder how those beams treat our eyes? I one time show is probably fine but...

were you shooting still pictures when the laser hit the sensor and fried it? Or video?

I've heard of this happening before, a few years ago at another laser show. Makes me think twice about shooting concerts or even attending.

Unfortunately, you have a costly problem. I would probably bite the bullet and have Canon repair it, unless I could get a new camera for not much more.

The only other place I have personal experience with is Precision Camera in Austin TX. They have a repair department that is pretty busy every time I go in there. Don't know if they could make a repair of this magnitude, but you might send them an email to ask.

NY! I'll be for 2 weeks, but if neccesary I can leave the camera in NY, my cousin lives there.
I've heard of New Jersey Canon facility, but 2 weeks isn't much time. You'd need to arrange (schedule) the service in advance and get it to them immediately once you land in NY.

B&H Photo Video is in NY - they are a very large and reputable dealer but will know of a repair shop (they might even have a repair shop in the store). I would e-mail them first.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/browse/Photography/ci/989/N/4294538916

At the right end of the grey bar (just below the black bar a the top), there is a LIVE CHAT service. If you try that, they may put you onto a reputable service shop in NY.
