Hi Danny, the first one is amazing. All the others are great, as usual. Looks like all conditions were right to get such a good view of the wing structure. It's too cold here to even think about birding.

Great set but I like these the best. The spoonbills are like jet fighters, the lighting on the Heron is great, and whats not to like about the Kingfisher. Back-lighting birds is highly effective if a PITA.Off to the estuary yesterday ............ because I HAVE to !! ;-) or is it I need to. NEX-7 and Canon FD 500 F/4.5L
The oddest shot I've ever taking by far this one. The human body with a 500mm lens is not supposed to go directly upwards I've decided, not at my age anyway. LOL. Its also a reason why the need to hand hold the 500mm, if this was on a tripod, it would be impossible to get.
Royal Spoonbill's, straight up
White faced Heron just sneaking around
Another Heron flying off and this is what you get for shooting into the wrong side of the sun. Thank goodness for LR.
Well of course, no surprise a Sacred Kingfisher
All the best as always folks and a few from yesterday.
Danny.

Ha, thanks. Forgotten how many times I've seen that ;-) so now I just tell them it was with a Canon 1DX and a 500 F/4L and everyone is happy.... taking sharp pictures hand held with a long telelens without IS! So do you use your lens with IS or are this just fakes(just kidding, very nice pictures as usual!)
Thanks for showing what is possible...
I absolutely love this shot and don't find it odd at all - the symmetry is great!Off to the estuary yesterday ............ because I HAVE to !! ;-) or is it I need to. NEX-7 and Canon FD 500 F/4.5L

You made me think ;-) Sometimes they seem to and other times not. A few example for youDo these birds sync the beating of their wings?
Very nice shots, compliments Danny!

I love seeing shots of these. Justin in Florida posts some that are similar. Here we do have a reef Heron, but most of our Heron's are the large white faced Heron. Nothing like the colours and details of these beauties. they are GORGEOUS and a great shot BTW. Very clear and sharp details. Nice work.If not in sync they seem to be 180 degrees apart... Nice set again, thanks
Do you see this guy in your neck of the woods? It was taken in the Domenican Republic...
