The little village of Skaneateles in upstate NY holds an annual Charles Dickens festival on the weekends before Christmas. I've been a couple times in the past, with different photographic gear, and it's always been highly entertaining. It's a public spectacle in the center of the village mainly, with folk dressed up in period dress of Dickens' Victorian age. Not good for b/w, but spectacular for color. The womenfolk wear totally illegal furs and feathers while the menfolk have tended to their personal shrubbery (i.e., beards) for months prior to the occasion, no doubt to closer resemble ye olde English ancestors. There are recitals, sing-alongs, and various other events, some impromptu. The English spoken throughout the village on such weekends - true to the spirit of Dickens - is straight from the 19th century, down to the West London accent. Addressing any of the actors will only result in unintelligible feedback. US President Tyler and the invited (and freezing) Queen Victoria oversee the proceedings from a gazebo on the lake. Here are a couple of images from yesterday (M9, Nocti with nth degree grad filter to account for bright sunshine and reflecting snow):

The constables
The ghost of Christmas past
Not sure who that might be...any Dickens experts here?
Victorian era yuppie
A gentleman of worth and significance
People dressed smartly back then!
The M9 does colors in an extraordinary way I think. And the Nocti balances well and is a joy to use, even in bright, sunlit conditions. There are b/w versions at http://hahn.zenfolio.com/dickens13 if anyone cares, but it's just not the same (with two or three exceptions).
Thanks for looking. C & C welcome.
