My wife and myself along with 19 others decided to take a bus tour of the West. Our final destination would be San Francisco, and the return trip would take us to Salt Lake city up to Illinois.

It was a very long trip, and while pleasant, it was also very hard on us as we were on the bus by 8 A.M each day. We covered 14 states altogether, which also included the Grand canyon.

I took at least 1000 photos, and will take some time to go through each one and delete quite a few.

For the time being, I thought that I would post some that I took along the way. I am sure that some of you will readily know some of these areas, but as it is my first time doing the west coast, it is new to me.

Your opinions are welcome , and I will post others when I get around to it.

Thanks for looking, and hope you like.

Ansel

Nice captures. I especially liked #2.

Ansel, that is the way to see the West. I've driven coast to coast 6 or seven times and taken a bus from SoCal to Waco when I was a kid. The coming of the Interstates made it quicker/easier but I really missed Route 66 and , if I had the time, would get off the Interstates.

Wow, the WigWam is still there! In 1952 I really tried to get my older brother (who was the driver) and my mom to stop there for the night. Love the old cars parked in front.

Many thanks for posting, many great memories

There used to be a WigWam Motel in Wharton Texas. Don't think it's still there.

Never ask a man where he's from. If he is from Texas, he'll tell you. Otherwise, don't embarrass him.

Some great images here A!

I particularly like #5 . . . Albuquerque . . . although I would have gotten slightly tighter . . . eliminate the foreground below the stairs . . . and then clone out the power pole and all the wires in the sky in the background .. . easy to do and would authenticate the image to a degree.

I also like the next images of the old car . . . but I don’t like the second car in the background . . . you could have easily moved a few degrees to the right to eliminate the second car in the composition . . . and again . . . clone out the wires in the sky.

Also some great opportunities for close up detail here . . . the logo on the back of the trunk . . . the rust and gas tank cover . . . rear tail lights . . . hubcaps . . . don’t ignore the close up world . . . there is a world of photo opportunity there!!!

Best

Thanks Tom

Although I do not plan on doing this anytime soon again, it was definitely a great experience. The history lesson alone was worth all the money that I paid for the trip. These pioneers were really some very strong people, and puts some of us to shame for all the things that they had to endure.

The mountains alone makes one wonder how they ever did it. Thanks again, and I will be posting more pictures as sift through them

I agree with your comments, and appreciate the time taken to do so, but my purpose was to document these places since I only had about 30 minutes each time the bus stops. If I ever go back to these places on my own, and have the time, I would be thinking more about composition rather than documentation. Thanks again.

Love your efforts and all the pictures are beautifully taken. I specially liked the picture #1 in second post, of the canyons. It felt like art at first. Really splendid.

Hope you'll share more for us to enjoy. Thanks

Hi Anees

Thanks you so much for your kind words, and your appreciation for my efforts. I have been taking photos for a very long time, and still it is only for hobby purposes, but I do enjoy sharing my ideas especially to the ones who are kind enough to respond. I enjoyed my time on this trip that I took, and could only take pictures when it was possible to do so. The time constraints on a bus was very difficult as sometimes there was only 15 minutes or so to grab a few shots. I had to make my pictures more of a documentary type rather than the composition, but I tried to do my best whenever I could.

Thanks again
