I have FujiFilm HS50EXR that I'm using for couple of weeks. I also Nikon P520 that I borrowed from friend to compare and see which is better. I'm not a pro in photography and would like to know
the settings that I should set on both for a fair comparison to take indoor shots, low light shots, portraits and also moving objects (kid jumping, cars, birds on flight, plane etc).

I used HS50EXR for a while now and I'm unable to get blur free photos of kids running, jumping etc unless I go to Sports mode. Do I need to press the shutter a split second before they come into the frame while jumping?. I set it to P mode and set the ISO to Auto (1600) and followed the settings recommended in one of the threads here.

Please help.

You can do similar tests I have done here

My settings for HS50 are also posted at the end of it.

Last week I went to the local shop to get a touch and feel of one of the hallmarks of the HS50: The manual zoom.
The cam had already been tried by several customers and the zoom was still way too sticky, dealbreaker for me.
Maybe You get lucky with a different sample.

To me the P520 isn't useful as you can't use the viewfinder at all unless you close the articulating screen first.

Maybe you can still buy the P510. Strong IQ, but the autofocus is too slow, often hunting and sometimes imprecise - even at 24mm.

Difficult choice no doubt, I decided to wait for the next generation of bridgecams and also to consider DSLR/Mirrorless.
(X-S1? Lens droopage - FZ200? I don't like Panny colours - Sony HZ300V has the worst (yes plural) user guides - Buttons and dials of Canon compacts/bridges are not my cup of tea)

Really? Deal-breaker? Mine is as smooth as X-S1 after a month of heavy use. A deal breaker for me is the one that is slow as turtle popping out his head.
