Sandy left us and the calm is coming back little by little! The temperature has dropped about 30” F since 2 days ago!

Today, I spent a short time in Alexandria, Virginia, to take a few shots of the Potomac River.

Hello Louis.

These are excellent shots dipictin Sandy. The mysterious gloomy darkness tells you about the foul weather ravaging the US and also here in Ontario,Toronto had its trees and hydro knock downs and flooding .But overall the damage here is not to bad.Your DL5 with your PP shows you that in your hands, this Leica makes great photo's.Greetings: John Basso.

A lovely set Louis. Most enjoyable.

Are you thinking of updating to the DL6? Just wondering.

Bill

Very familiar places for me. I hope Old Town does not get too much flooding today, the Potomac is supposed to crest this afternoon.

You were lucky! (It's obviously still raining.)

Yes, Cadder; I was among the lucky ones and I must admit, we have had much worse than Sandy many times before in my neighborhood. But My heart goes for those who lost everything on the sea shore!... Sad and difficult time for do many people!

Indeed, it has been raining for few days now. Not much, but still cloudy and wet!

Regards,

John, thank you very much for your kind feedback! It was a very dark and gloomy day. I wasn't even sure I could get anything!

Kind Regards,

It seemed to me Sandy didn't make too much damage in Alexandria. Potomac was higher than usual, but nothing seemed flooded!... Fortunately, it wasn't that bad in our region; but our hratr go to those folks in NJ and all around the shore. It was devastating for them!

Kind Regards,

Thank you, my friend. Alexandria is about 20mn from where I live. It is a beautiful, old and picturesque city that is always very animated by tourists. But yesterday, it was dark, deserted and gloomy for obvious reasons!

Warm regards,

Thanks for your thoughts Louis.

I tend to agree with you. I've only used an 80mm Summilux R lens which I love, but prefer the Summicron look that comes through nicely on the DL5.

I too really wanted to see a Leica version of the GX1(2) as the larger sensor's and lens interchangeability is appealing. Looks like we will have to wait a bit though.

Happy shooting.

Bill

A very fine series. Wonderfully vibrant colours for a dull and wet day. The one below, of the family, stood out for me with the quality of light and overall 'pop'. Would you be willing to reveal what you did in pp (or the shot) to achieve this?
